I used 2mm because when my LHS got its first order of Depron, there were 4 big sheets of 2mm used for packing protection. The owner asked me if I could use it or shoud he throw it away.

I did build him a 20" UB with some of it.

Where do you get 3mm blucor?

I got some 2mm depron for free a couple of times too. When ordering from depronusa they often use 2mm depron as packing, but I haven't gotten full sheets like you did
No 3mm blucor. I went back and reviewed my post and I did not say anything about 3mm blucor. It's 3mm sheet that I sliced from a block of blue foam. It's stiffer than 2mm depron but not as stiff as 3mm depron. I made a gym-blu out of it but it was too flimsy to fly. I posted a pick of it in the gym-blu thread.

Rick,

Very interesting the weight of 2mm vs 3mm. Must be a density thing. Guess I'll have to weight the stuff I have before I build.

Are you going to do a PDF of the finial plans?

When I print the dwg file here at work, there are extra lines all over the print. Even the writing starts and ends are connected. Must be someting between Auto CAD and ProE.

I'm sure it's a density difference, no other explanation for it. I always weigh every single part I put on an airplane
I used to have that problem with my laser printer. Changing the printer driver fixed it.
Yes I'll make a pdf and tiled pdf, just haven't gotten to it yet.

Cant really see in your picture but are you using 2 servos or just one. I assume 2 and then I would guess you have the radio set up for a v-tail?

If I understand your question correctly, it -is- setup like a v-tail and it requires 2 servos to accomplish that.

Dihedral plus undercamber

A question for you guys.

I was cheking the plan but how do you hold the dihedral of the undercambered 3 mm depron wing of the Blu Gym X Bipe ?

Tips & Triks are welcome..


To keep it simple what if I use a stright wing (no dihedral) adding ailerons ad elevator only ?

Looks really good frankfly. Hope to hear a flight report soon. I never actually built one of these, just drew the plans. So tell me how did the parts fit?

Wow great, never thought I'd see this thread again.

frankfly

The dihedral is done just like the original gym blue (search). Once you heat temper the undercamber and cut the two ends to fit, it holds very well.

A friend built a non-dihedral, ailerons version, standard tail, just like yours. Flys great. You'll like it .

How do you find the C/G of this bipe?
Any rule of thumb or any forum to refer to ?

This model has a "disposable" wing system (elastic band ligation). In a crash event you can unmount the fuse and go for a new pair of wings. A good thing I believe.

I just set it 1/3 back on the top wing. Move it around to suit the flying style you want. In a small gym, I move it back a little and it harriers around very slow. Not sure on your aileron version. Move it around and find the sweet spot.

Can you get pics of the removable wing setup?
