Took a peek at the plans on my computer. WOW. I kept meaning to ask you to tab the cabans to the wings.(Never mind) Looks great!!! May have to start cutting tonight.

CDRom powered I use an IPS c. That thing will hover with CD.

Thanks again

Another note. The inner? depron on the center caban. I used a 3mm CF rod for the fuse so I used 3mm depron on the inner for a snug fit.

That's cool. I didn't know exactly what you used but I have some 4mm and that's what I would use. The 1/4" fanfold or 6mm depron works pretty good with it so that's the way I drew it. The only problem if you change the thickness is that the slots will be too wide. Would you likeme to draw you up a wing with 3mm slots?

No problem. I can adjust from there. The other thing I saw was the tabs on the outer struts don't match. I think if I cut between the two cutouts it comes out right.
Was racing tonight so haven't had a chance to look it over any more. I will build this weekend.

How do you like my new avitar?

Thanks again!

Hmm... the outer strut tabs do not match. I'll have to study that, I haven't noticed that.
That IS a cool avatar! Looks better than mine, I'm jealous!!

Hmm, looks like I forgot to DRAW the tabs on the outer struts! Is that the problem you are talking about?
I'm going to go ahead and post the revised plan now, and whenever I get time to fix those tabs I'll re-upload them here,
So for everyone's information, this is the same plan as the other except that it uses a 3mm fuse stick and 3mm center cabane,

You know...
I'm thinking that with very little modification this little model would make a great 3D plane. Drop the undercamber, use flat plate wings... center the fuse stick between the wings.. that should do the trick. I may build one myself IF I can ever get caught up

Oh yeah, here's something I noticed just today concerning the thickness of the center cabane. I decided to throw together a new version of my 3D Stik plane, because I had some ideas to lighten it up. I made a horizontal stab with 3mm depron and then made a second one from 1/4" blucor. Not certain I remember the exact measurements I got and I didn't write them down, but the blucor with the skin still on was only about .05 grams heavier than the 3mm depron. I then peeled the skin from both sides of the blucor stab and now it is about .05 grams LIGHTER than the 3mm depron. Now I'm wondering why I wasted a bunch of money on 3mm depron since it isn't gonna save any weight. Incidentally I bought a bunch of 2mm depron as well and can only see a few 10ths of a gram between 2mm and 3mm. I think blucor rules Just some food for thought for you

Sure it is, you'd just have to order it from the US
There are at least a couple of online stores selling it by the sheet.

You drew tabs on the outer struts, but they are singles and the wing has doubles like the center caban. It looks like if you make the slot on the wing using the ends of the two slots it would match?

Oh, and I used 2mm depron on the wings on the proto. Plenty strong in a bipe config.

If you want to try 3d with the x-tail, maybe on a plane like this?

http://www.rcgroups.com/forums/showthread.php?t=338173

Something like that should raise a few eyebrows

I do wonder what the x-tail would do for 3d. Should change some coupling issues good or bad.

I see what you mean now. I'll get that fixed

I think I knew that! I don't know why I put 3mm on the plan. But.... what if I told you that it was a waste of time and money to use 2mm depron? Check out the following chart that I made just this morning:

All sheets are 4 1/4" x 7 1/2". The "blue sheet" is a sheet I sliced
from a block of blue foam. The EPP is 1lb density. In my opinion
each of these materials are stiff enough for this model. The 6mm
derpon actually measures 5.7mm on my calipers. The ultrafoam
and tufflite are products sold by Troy Built Models. Both of these
products have a plastic skin on them. All measuements are made on
an almost new (2 weeks or so) scale.

2mm depron 3.4 grams
3mm depron 2.9 grams
3mm blue sheet 2.2 grams
5mm blucor (w/skin) 4.9 grams
5mm blucor (w/o skin) 3.7 grams
4mm EPP 2.2 grams
8mm EPP 3.5 grams
6mm depron 6.7 grams
5mm ultrafoam 5.2 grams
7mm tufflite 5.3 grams

After seeing this I have to wonder why I wasted my money on a carton of 2mm depron. Also, note that 6mm depron is the heaviest thing on the list.
