BTW, I haven't crashed this yet. A friend snapped the nose off and I glued it back on, but I haven't crashed it. This is a new record.

Now I have to build the others. I guess I'll have to wait for HeloPilot to figure out how to fly his before I build any more though.

Video

I owe you a video. Here you go:

http://www.rcgroups.com/gallery/show...cat=500&page=1

The first clip is an unedited start to finish flight from today. The second clip is also from today. The last few clips are from the maiden.

Cary,

Love the video. I'll have to build another 51 with the larger horizontal stab. It definately flys a heap better.

Hi Guys, I'm building my first EO P40 and I just wanted to double check some things before I apply the "glue of no return".

Do I have this right?
Side and down thrust = 0
Dihedral = 0
Flat wing, no airfoil
Any washout on the wing?

Oh, and it appears to have grown a rudder. (oops!)

Scott, thanks for sharing your designs, it's given me the incentive to have a go at combat.

Rob,

0 - 0 - 0 as per the drawings. Just add a little up trim on the elevator to help get that flat plate to fly. Interesting to hear how she goes with a rudder.

Thanks Scott, I'll post a report and photos once it flies. I was a little worried that using a rudder with flat plate wings and no dihedral might make it do weird things, but apart from stall turns, it's unlikely that I would use it as a solo input. We'll know soon enough.

After building the supper fantastic P-51 I decided to go for the Zero. Woooooooooo, It is another fantastic plan, design, and a fantastic plane to fly. I flew the zero yesterday, and all I can say is another winner. Scott thank you for sharing your time, talent, plans, etc. The zero looks so nice in the air, flies very stable, rolls are lightning fast, loops are excellent, flies inverted, and got no bad habits at all. I am using a Cd Rom motor, 17T, 26g wire, E-tec 11.1v, and 700-mah battery, with GWS HD 8040 prop. As always thank you Scott for the gift of sharing.

Regards,
saeed

Saeed,

You are very kind and it's great to know that the Zero is a real performer!

By the way, I am in the slow process of bringing over all of the pages from the old site to the new. The first step being a file repository on the site. So if anyone goes looking all the plans etc can now be found under the Download section from the home page.

Hey Scott,
I've seen you've got an Extra 300L too. Since Frank Versteegh (Dutch pilot) flies a very nice painted Extra 300L at the RedBull Airraces, I'd love to make your Extra 300L.. Got enough Depron to make 20 of those

Tommorow. 5pm. Showdown with Cary. His pretty little plane goes BOOM !!!! Let's see if he can fly his plane as good as he says he can. My guess is he will suddenly not be able to get someone to shoot video for us ! ! ! !

The Extra is still a work in progess. I will eventually get around to posting it but it's my first 3D design and I still can't fly 3D any where near good enough to test it out properly.

As a matter of fact, it hasn't been flying as well lately. Don't know if it's the wind, burned motor, fuse damage, or the thumbs. But it should be enough for the competition I'll have to face tomorrow.

Hello Folks, when I printed out these plans on 8.5 * 11 paper the edges would not line up and it looked like a little bit of the drawing was missing from each edge of each page. I tried every one of them, and all had the same problem. What trick do you people use to print these plans correctly on American size paper? Thanks.
