Hi Fellows,
My friend and I plan on visiting San Diego early March . We are hoping to do some sloping and are in need of site information. We've been at Tory a few years ago and have some wonderful memories. Does anyone know if we can fly as guests again? Also,what other sites nearby or inland might there be? Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Bring your ama to torrey, and you can fly as a guest, requires a flight check and sign off.

I think some of the others could give you better info on Torrey, as I have still never flown there, but If you will be near Carlsbad: Take the Palomar airport road exit West off the 5 freeway. When you reach the beach (and highway 101), flip a U turn, head south and you will on any given day see a good sized crowd of slopers right to your right on the ridge above the beach. I hear in Feb/March the place normally lights up big. Right now it has been garbage.

Thanks guys, the Carlsbad site looks nice too, we'll be checking it out along with Tory. I printed out a list of sites posted on the ISR Home page. Looks like a lot to see. Now if I can only get my 3mtr Fox ready........

March usually is a good month at torrey, great place to fly a 3m fox, nice big wide open lz

You guys still land on carpet over there? I remember going to an r/c scale event there years ago and the LZ was made up of old carpet. That was MANY years ago though. Saw a guy take one of those massive scale birds into a tree on the golf course that day...sickening site for sure!
