LCD screen losing it - can I get parts?

Mt Hitec Flash 5 Tx is approaching it's 3rd birthday in March - I know nothing lasts forever, but I'm disappointed that my so far trusty transmitter is showing signs of already wearing out.

The volts display shows between 1 and 2.3 volts with a fully charged battery (also with spare battery) - The Tx works fine, no low voltage beeping - and will work for at least an hour this way.

The model numbers 1 and 5 are now missing and some of the other segments are gone, which makes things hard to read.

Everything is still working, so far, but I expect before too long that it will get worse.

My supplier here in Australia says it's 'Hardly worth fixing' as the parts and labour could easily equal the cost of a new Tx.

I am about to buy a new Tx because for a long time I've realised how handy it is to have backup.

But I hate to just throw my Hitec away -

Is it possible to make a simple diagnosis from the low volts display and LCD ?

Is it possible to get a new complete board that houses the LCD and either fit it myself (or I can get it fitted locally by a tech) ?

Unfortunantly, there is no easy way to diagnose the problem with out having the transmitter.

Hi Brendan,

obviously not easy to diagnose the fault without the Tx, but is it possible to buy a new circuit board ? the one that includes the LCD screen ?

No, they are service parts only and cannot be sold. Plus, the radio would have to be calibrated if the main board was replaced.

Oh, that's a pity.

Seems a shame that it didn't last two years.

The LCD display is now almost gone. Is this a well known problem on the Hitec Flash 5 ?

No, I rarely see a display go out on these radios. In fact I can only recall 1 or 2 in the last couple of years.
