I need a new hot plane

I'm ready for a new HOT plane. I'm looking for a little speed. It needs to be RTF or ARF, be OK with a 3 or 4 channel radio. Speed 400 size is best. What shall I get. Is the Formosa hotr enough of is there something under a $100 that is better?

The Formosa is a great plane for aerobatics rather than flat out speed.
For a fast speed 400 plane that flies very well, check out the Terry.

How much are you looking to spend?
Have you ever considered a flying wing?
I havent seen any videos of the Formosa that impress me, but I have seen Gruaper Terry and it flew very nice, gotta love teh folding prop.

Depends. I'll spend a $100. I had a Zagi, but the wings are so noisy... The Terry has been around a while. Is it "dated" by now? Is the Terry fast and manouverable? It looks like it does not use ailrons. I'm guessing to really turn and burn I need aileons...

Have a look in the High Performance forum!

A search on 'sokol', 'adrenaline' or any of the other S400 pylon racers currently available may re-define your perception of the word "HOT". Might re-define your budget a tad too..........

To start with, it would help to know what you mean by "hot". What are you currently flying? What would make a plane "hot" for you?

If you want to stay in the 400 area, cheap plane, common 8 cells batteries like CP1700 or 1950 Nimh types, the TwinSpeedy/Turn On is a great very HOT plane.

Check out some videos of it like:

Well, all the videos are located on:

and in general, the review to get more details on the plane and pictures on http://plawner.net/

Bye,
Patrick.

I'm moving to larger airplanes. Although I have not flown one of these myself, I have not heard any negative flight reports about them.

Hmmm. Interesting. It's just this budget that I'm on... I'll have to cogitate upon it...

Oh, by the way I'm currently flying a SlowStick and an Acsent E-glider. I've flown glow (a clipped wing Goldberg Cub with a .40 on it). I'm wanting to get something faster, with ailrons. I'd like to go brushless, but the $$ is holding me back. I need a budget pocket rocket.

I have to disagree. If you've been flying a Slow Stick and an ascent, you want a sport plane of some sort; going straight to any sort of "fast" plane is going to be expensive and disappointing.

I got my "taste" for speed with the Ace Simple 400, and I think it fits all your criteria apart from being an ARF. It's a really, really simple build though. It's fast enough on the stock 400 power system, but also more than strong enough to take a brushless setup when you start wanting to go faster.

There are lots of threads here on the Simple; a quick search should have you drowning in information.

For a cheap fast small plane that can be built with or without ailerons check out the Wattage Hawk, it flies great on stock power and will really move out with brushless.

The electrostreak is a really good plane, once you put a brushless motor in there, it's a REALLY nice plane!!

It can fly nice and slowly (takes forever to slow..), and it really shines with it's speed.

This thing flies like it's on rail, very smooth.

So many planes! So little... money! Personally, I think I can handle a hotliner or a pylon racer. BUT... I'll take a trip to the LHS this afternoon. They have a big selection of electrics, and who knows what I'll come home with? Maybe a Hyperwing or who-knows-what? I forgot to mention that I flew a Zagi too. Loved it exept they are kind of noisy. I goofed up and turned it into a dog by covering it...
By the way, the Hawk looked kind of interesting...
I'll let you know what I end up with!
