Depends on what you mean by "accurate".

I have had issues in the past converting AutoCad 2D views directly into Solidworks and have it extract a 3D model. New SP of Solidworks 2005 seems to do much better. Here is the microhorn someone posted earlier. Thanks for all the great links and drawings guys.

That looks good, Tacookaz. Is the conversion in Solidworks an automated process, or a bit more hands on?

Its semi-automatic, usually more trouble than its worth. I just bring in the 2D sketch and extrude or cut with that sketch to make the 3rd dimension. Its quicker than trying to tell SW what line is related to what line in different 2D views. The AutoCad dxf provided took less than 5 minutes to import and make 3D , so its relatively fast.

time for another bump

Working in Solidworks 2004 now. I've finally got that darned micro horn in 3d. I'm working on modeling the infamous Slowstick now. Got a fuse tube and roughly designed servo brackets assembled so far.

Edit: I'll keep the Slowstick assembly on a separate thread.

Why not repot the post and ask to make it a 'sticky'

I've got MPjet inrunner gearboxes and HS55 servos to contribute as well..and a speeds 600 in an olympus belt drive.. plus a few servo linkage parts..when I get round to turning them into DXF's..
.

HS55 is a widely used part - I've done it crudely in 2d in the past.

This is great! I'm really just now getting started with CAD. I've already DL'd the posted files. The HS55's would be nice, also 81's if anybody has them. I certainly appreciate the time everyone has spent on these!

Modeled as one solid object, made partially transparent. Now all I need to do is model all the internals individually.

Exported a DXF drawing from a Solidworks model I've been working on. PDF and dxf include 3-view + bottom, sectional view, and iso view.

Is there a way I can open these drawings here in Blender? www.blender.org Those of us who use this free-beer-free, open source (and therefore free-speech free too!) also want to be able to use these drawings that are here in making our airplanes. Has anyone seen a plugin or something that I can use to open the drawings with?
