Hitec HS-55 vs HS-56...

The Hitec HS-56 is slightly faster than the HS-55 and has a top ball bearing.

Is it worth the extra .11 ozs on a plane like a Tensor 4D or a shockflyer?

The hs 56 also has karbonite gears they are 4 times as strong as the ones in the hs 55.

No way
I wouldn't even use a HS 55 in a plane this size because even they are too heavy IMO.

Hey now,
I don't have a Tensor or Shockflyer, so I can't say for them. But my Ultimate has hs-55s and they aren't too heavy. I also just built (built is an odd word for this model) a Mini Funtana, and I used hs-56s in it. They may be a tad heavy but they fit well and the balance point was right on the spot. I also liked their longer arms. The guys using hs-55s were complaining that they weren't able to get full throw on the elevator, no problem with the hs-56s.
They may be over kill on the Shocky, but the Tensor should be just fine with them. YMMV

I am with Bill on this one, Definatly not the best to use in a Shockie, will they work.....yes, but total over kill. I just built my Shockie with 4.6gram servos and they work great, total weight of the plane is 5.7oz ready to fly .

Cheers,
Jim

Ynks,
I am useing some HE4.9's sorry thought they were 4.6g servos but thay are actuall 4.9. I got them from Park Flyer Motors. I was looking to build a really light Shockie and I think I did OK, all up weight ready to fly is 5.7oz. To be honest the plane only has about an hour of flight time so far but they are still working .

Go SOX!!!!!!

Cheers,
Jim

Like Bill said, keep the Tensor light. The tensor is a light slow flying plane. You don't want to weight it down. Personally I wouldn't waste my money on ANY Hitec product for ANY plane they just have too high of a failure rate for me to risk any of my planes on the stuff...even the foamies. It takes a fair amount of time even to put a fomie together and get it all dialed in, and i like my planes to last longer than 5 seconds!

I own all Hitec stuff and only had a little glitching problem with my Feather RX, which is crap anywayz. I got hitec hs-55's on my extra 300 foamy with a electron 6 RX and am using a Hitec radio and works prefect. Ive also got the Hitec nicd/nimh charger and its very very nice.

The HS-56's are nice when you need a tougher gear train, or on a larger plane maybe 15oz plus where the extra weight doesn't hurt so bad. They are great for things like throttle servo's on ultra light glow planes, other micro servo's work, but the gear train is too weak.

For Tensor's and Shocky's the lighter the better. 6g or under work the best by far.
