The scheme I'd like to use is that of Lindbergh's personal airplane that's now hanging from the ceiling at the St.Louis airport.
Passing through St.Louis I saw it.
I remember it was at least partially black colored but can't find any photos of it.
Anyone know where I can find some photos ore even drawings of his color scheme?

Pic from the front at Lambert Field Airport
Possible another and some info

No Problem Don. Is that the scheme your going with? Black and orange would be slick and vintage looking for sure. The one I'm doing now will be similar to Arrow's.
Here's a few shots of the new aileron/flap wing.

mgdon & zbrubaker,
it's a rainy day here and nothing else to do so........mgdon hope your still following this thread-------------------enjoy !!!
heres something to add to your files.
I would point out(to be technical about it) Lindys Coupe is a Model D-145---and not the Model 90A that zbrubaker has modeled-------BUT --hey who cares---its a classic color scheme!!!
and S.Morgan has a point--struts???---again part of that classic look !!
Zbrubaker---great job on the design and the thread-----
one question does it need that much dihedral?? I'm not typically a small scale flyer so I don't really know---?

Clipwing...Thanks for those great pics! Did you find them somewhere or were you able to take them yourself? The two biggest differences I see are the cowl and windshield. It looks like the tail might have a slightly different shape as well.
Struts are a part of the kit. If you look back around post 20 or 21, you'll see them. I originally designed this as a Rudder/Elevator only - hence the slightly increased dihedral.
Has anyone out there started their build yet?

I can't thank you enough for those great photos!
After reading the email that was forwarded by RC Groups I was going to respond that I'd been unable to find any photos other then the one at The St Louis Apt.website so I was going to paint it differently but after seeing those photos I will be painting it that way.
It actually looks like it should fairly easy to duplicate.
I figure the 90A is pretty close to the 145 in outline so it won't make that much difference.
I saw a Velie Moncoupe in a local museum (The Hiller Museum in San Carlos, CA) and it was painted simarly.
I guess Lindy liked those colors.
The only thing I'm curious about is the "N"(aircraft registration no.) of NX211.
I believe that's also the N no.for the Spirit Of St.Louis.
Maybe the feds let him use it again as the Sprit wasn't going to fly again or something.
I haven't started my Monocoupe yet.
My excuse is after opening the box it came in I suddenly realized or in fact had been ignoring that the only balsa or I should say partially balsa because it had a foam wings rc airplane I'd ever completely built was an Ace Whizard a lot of years ago.
I learned to fly RC with it (3 channels, steerable tailwheel with a GMark .061 engine-Actually still have it out in the garage-still flyable after many altercations.
Anyway before I got the Monocoupe I bought a partially built Stevens Aeromodels RV4.
I'm going to finish and cover that for the experience first (hopefully make my major mistakes on that) then build the Monocoupe-I'm covering that with Doculam as I will the Monocoupe if it works out OK.
