I've wondered whether you could put a single fan in the fuse under the wing on the Lanier U-2-alike. I'd think it would be removing strength from an otherwise critical portion of the plane though.

With 629 sq in of wing area, the Lanier will need quite a lot of EDF before it flies like a jet. I've added an EDF to a hand launch glider before - they still fly like gliders afterwards. Plus, their model is far from scale and all the radio/servo bits end up on the outside.

I say... Shouldn't a U2 fly like a glider? I mean, the real thing is no air-superiority fighter....

What sort of power requirements did the HLGs require to get them to fly with an EDF, by the way? I would assume they wouldn't need much to keep them in the air..?
