Newbie help with Dragonfly please

I've just got the bug, and have purchased a Dragonfly 4 in the Uk, boxed with transmitter, software, etc. However when software is loaded onto pc (windows xp), and tx connected, a message appears on screen saying that tx could not be detected. Software that came with kit is tru-flite, and shutsdown when error message is accepted. Also could someone please help/advise with electrical connections for heli as kit claims to have been built and tested before being boxed, but i'm not entirely convinced. I can provide photos if that would help, any help would be really appreciated.
