SR-71 BlackBird Plans

I am looking for a good set of Detailed Plans to construct one of these babys.
I have read just about every thread on these forums I can find and I see poeple building these things but I never see any body post and real plans that shows measurments of pieces or anything like that.
I am not looking for a free run or anything "though I wont turn down free!!!"

but if anyone can either get me or point me tp some detailed Plans I would be very greatful!!!!

Are these of help? Usually a 3-view with cross sections of the fuselage is the ticket for a rudimentary set of plans. Although it isn't very high resolution, it is good enough for balsa (IMHO.)

Good luck,

Hi,

Regarding the plans, you actually don't need more than the picture above to create a good scale rendition of the SR-71. I know that you asked for a set of good scale plans to make an SR-71, and I've come up with nothing in regard to actual plans-but the above 3-view with crossections is all you need if you're willing to do a little bit of designing yourself. Although the picture doesn't have dimensions, it is proportional to itself (everything is the same scale) so you could blow it up to whatever size you want.

Check out the pictures below. The excelent Sr-71 below was built from the exact same 3-view that I posted. The builder, Willmsy, enlarged the 3-view and built the fuselage and wings right over the 3-view and added in the crossections-rather shrewd design I must say! You could do the same as him with balsa, or you could do it with foam instead.

Happy New Year,

Cameron Aach

Michael Beck has built one with alot difficulties.
I think, he will answer any questions.

OK, but you can ask Michael about the problems he had!
Its a model with retracts and after start the trouble begins.
Now, after long discussion and ideas the bird flies very well- there is also a video of it. (but starts only with bungee!)

The plane comes in stall very quickly(not soon!) Must be careful with flying angles, because a deltawing produce lot of resistance and the fuselage of a SR71 too!
Possible there is another guy who can read german and will help you.
Im still reading this thread and will write when there are problems.
Michaels SR 71 flies, because I and other guys had a few ideas to solve the problems

By the way:
The SR 71 is not like a deltawing, you can see it as an canard-wing with fixed canards!

There is, as of right now anyway, a free translator sevice. This allows one to translate just about any web page or block of text from one language to another. IMHO, it really helps to make this world more united. I use it all the time, it works on just about any text. It makes it easy to go from link to link and automatically translates things.
