Sheesh that was a very scary launch!!! It's a pink spec for sure, but isn't it supposed to be with a mega-2?

I'm very jealous. My schedule and side money have kept me Voodoo dream aside for the moment. I still have my eye on the prize though. Keep 'em comin' Jacko.

Yup launch was a bit "low" lucky there is a slope on the feild though.

Going to head up to Tokoroa in the next few months, nice long airstrip and a radar gun. Hopefully I can hold it straight long enough to get a reading! Constantly having to turn to keep it visable at the moment... A bit of tweaking the setup to help it track a bit better at full noise should go a long way too.

i was a t a modle show today and saw one of these lunatic objects flying that along with the deamon were by far the most impresive things flying it made the gas turbines look slow.
but the best thing was how smoth and planted it was and it was a windy old day.

last time i tried speed 400 it was made from balsa had an actual speed400 motor and 7aa nicads!

i think im going to have another go

Could be. Have no idea on the guy's name, just that Overlander sell the things over here and demo one with a nice hot setup at the model shows they attend. Have seen them flown a few times now. Always impressive. I remember the pilot is quite young, fast thumbs help a lot on a Voodoo

Nice video of some NZ sky & the occational dot Jacko

Jetdryver, does yours balloon at full noise?

Im having issues getting a doplar pass, 150+ and its still shweet but as soon as I give it a good run up and it goes supersonic it starts to balloon and get a little bit ass cheek clenching crazy!

Yep all of my four voddo would do the same

I modified one after a crash or to be more precise when i rebuilt the fuse the wing incedence was changed to be less positive

Take off is alot more tricky as there is a lot less lift at speeds of less than 30 MPH so I use the bungee to solve the take off issues
This made the plane less balloning in high speed flat passes but it was really sricky to get it out of vertical dives I was forced to have the flaps input up control inputs in the vertical dives to get it to snap out of the deep slot
However then its a bit snappy on the controls if you input on the up down as the flaps spoilers really grip the air

If you want to try it you could make a balsa seat for the wing which start at ~1mm thick at the back and reduces to zero towards the front .
This would reduce wing incidence from probaby 1 degree to zero degrees
If you dont do the deep vertical dives it seems to stop ballooning

Cheers man, I think i might try a peice of tape under the TE of the wing seat and see what effect it has, and then go from there. Currently got it in bits to rebind the Rx, what a mission!

Jacko, FWIW, the Slipso flies at all speeds I've seen with zero incidence and launches fine. I think launching is not dependent on the incidence, it just gets trickier as the wing loading goes up since you have a higher stall airspeed, so AUW is the telling factor.

Does anyone have any tips for first flight? Like how to launch and land?
