Jeepers.

How many rpm static does the 2.5y pull? My 28-37-2 (3750kV) is turning 35k rpm on a 4.1x4.1

Any photos of the layout you used to get the turnigy cell in there? Is it standing on it's side?

Done! Friggin Epic Odyssey getting it all too fit! Ended up making a "train" of bits to keep everything inline and the wiring not jamming it up. I cant beleive you can get an AR7000 down there!

AUW is 509g, 4.1x4.1@35046rpm and 473W

It turns 35000 rpm static pulling 35 amps. That was with a TP2200 extreme v2. It turns faster with the turnigy 1800 but I have not measured it.

I'm planning setups for a Voodoo I'll buy in the near future. I like the numbers from the Mega 16/15/3 and Neu 1105-2.5Y. Different animals, but I've the option to get a Mega for half price and figure it would be a better "first fast plane" setup. However I would like to eventually step up to the 1105.

Do the mounting holes line up between the 2 motors? If not, would it be OK to use just 2 holes for the Mega, then later on 2 holes for the Neu?

Thanks,
Kev

[edit: I did some research and found Mega has 16-19 spacing, and Neu has 16-16 spacing. Lots of guys are mounting with just 2 screws, so they look interchangeable to me.]

Sweet Jacko, 500W should rip... let us know how it goes!

I got the Mega, now I'm on to servos. I like the fact that futaba 3153's have bearings. I was also homing in on hs-5056mg. Would those be OK if I were doing the rearward servo setup? Any thoughts on servos?

Thanks,
Kev

The servos need to be itsy, particularly the one on the elevator. Nothing bigger than a Futaba S3154 will fit (ive tried ) http://www.tamiya-shop.co.nz/shop/fu...-90017235.html for the sizing. I think tower stock em in the states. You can have a little wider servo on the ailerons but not by much (1mm maybe!)

Really like these little servos, my first futaba's. Havent flown them but on the deck they feel very precise, zero slop and perfect centering.

I wasted 100US on servos that didnt fit into the Voodoo (DS09's) Id recommend going with the futaba's (or futabas of the same case size) as they do fit

Voodoo recipie..

Wait, this is the mega pushing a 6x3 on 4 cells easily on my friends big wing, so Im thinkinking prop down to 4.1" and testing pitch from 4.1 to 5.5, with 4.5 width tested also. goal is to peak at less than 50 amps.. the batteries should be hyperion 1100-1600 45c-90c 7.4v(2) wired in series in a way that eases fuse fit. I will use my CC ice 50 light with no external bec to save space. spektrum ar6100. have servos but looking..
Its been a long time since ive "carved" down props This seems like good fun in the making!

Its a very nicely put together little plane MikeRx, top quality all round. 16/15/3 is a shweet motor, on 3S your looking at 30A on a 4.75x4.75, 4S with a 4.1.x4.1 is about 42 (from memory) It'll go like stink with that setup, your on the right track using 2 small high discharge packs too, it takes alot of problem solving and mocking up all the bits into a position that gets everything in and gets the CG in the range. Have no fear that'll leave the rifle for dead Ill try get some vid tommorrow.

Oh that sounds good! I was hoping around 40 amps with the smallest prop.
Adding 4.4 0z airframe with my gear only comes up to as little as 16 oz using the smaller packs. 18 with the bigger ones.
Any idea what the rpms are 4 cell?

Just went hunting for my 16/15/3 (2800kV) testing I did ages ago, I must have deleted it by accident, but I found a log with no rpm sensor, using 4S 2000 30C's (old skool packs by todays standards) and got -

4.1x4.1 4S 16-15-3 32A 14.4V 460W

With modern packs I suggest it'd be more like 36A and id take a stab at the rpm being in the 35-36k range.

The other option, is a mega 16-15-2 which will be insanely fast on 3S with 37-38k rpm on 4.1x4.1 on 55A@10.6V 578W. Good high discharge packs will raise the voltage under load on that number too, giving you more rpm.
