Hi

@ Jos: even if the height will be enough for 2 packs, you probably won't get them in there. I have to put mine in on its side and the inside rotate it 90 degrees so it will slide under the controller. Even moving the servo aft won't help you because with 2 packs and a bigger(=heavier) motor you have to bring the packs more aft for C/G and they will hit the servo's again.
I'm away from home until friday, but if you want I can take some measurements from inside room of the the voodoo then! I'm also curious how you want to launch the Voodoo with about 180 gram more of weight?

@ Chris: Ai ,that's a lot of Amps then, which also means more heat inside the voodoo. I'm still interested in rpm's even with the 4,7x4,7 and keep us informed how much it draws with the smaller prop, please.
Good luck with the search for your prop

Robert,

Thank you for the info. I guess one pack is good enough. Maybe 2s2p would fit in it but then I don't know what motor to use.

I think I will order one of these planes and fly it with this engine (see image). It is sold by Hopf. Identical to the Kontronik Fun 480-28 motor but cheaper.

Now I need to choose a paint job! It's a tie between the Blue-White or the Yellow-Red-Black model.

Setup will be;
Hopf 480-28
3s1p TP Gen2 2100mah
CC Phoenix 45 (overkill)
3x Waypoint W-084 Servo's
Schulze Alpha 5.35 RX
4,7x4,7'' Prop

Jos

P.s. Heavy setup? Launching could be done with a bungy just like my EDF models.

Hi Jos,

although I really like the white/blue scheme as well I'm too happy I have chosen the yellow, red, black scheme.
It's very fast and that means within seconds it's far away, and on cloudy days I think the white one is more difficult to see

Have a nice weekend

Robert,

So true!!! That is one reason why I prefer 2 meter and + planes.

The picture is uploaded now, whoops.

Hi Jos,

How many amps will your set up draw ?? Looks thirsty !!

Hi Mavrik,

According to motocalc, not that much. It thinks about 23 amps static and in flight. I do not have the proper prop and spinner at this time so I can not measure it just yet.

It should not be more then 25 amps I hope.

The CC 45 is overkill, but; it should fit, it's not that heavy, it's the only thing I have handy and it should be good for reduced throtle flying!

Negative gostrider, the pattern is full!

That motor looks like a Feigao and nothing like kontronik.

Ok ok it is a Feigao.

Don't know what the wind is but it is 57mm long and Hopf say it should do 2800rpm/v so we will soon find out. It is 169gram with the long leads as it is now.

I think it is the Feigao 38084L 10W with 2890rpm/v 1,4IO(A) 0,0178Ohm

Any experiance with this motor?

Hi Jos,

You're motor weights 169 gram???
The one I'm using 48 gram and I really don't think you will be able to get the C/G right by moving your batterypack. And to make the modell even more heavier by putting lead in the tail, I don't know.
You're landingspeed will increase a lot and and it will stall a lot easier.
Well, keep us posted on the result.
Also you might encounter problems by trying to attach a hook for your bungy, because there is really not much room left between the batterypack and the wingservo's

Arg, did not think this would be so difficult! I guess I am used to bigger planes.

You are right! This motor is not suited for this plane at all. Way to heavy!
It will instead only be used in my EDF models (700W+), if it holds up.

I asked Hopf for a Kontronik and got this instead all be it at half the price of the Kontronik. It's not a bad little motor. Anyone seen whats inside?

So I guess I have a chooise. Either get the Kontronik or go Mega maybe HET-RC in it.
I suppose I better get the plane first and then see.

As for the total weight of the plane, I am not so worried. I don't think the wingloading is al that high with just one 3S1P TP 2100 pack in it. Still well below F5D or F5B wingloadings. But I could be wrong here aswell.

Hi Jos,

Robert is right. 169 gram motor up front would be ugly. I'm not sure it would even fit. Not much room in these little buggers. My mega weighs around 78 grams.

I weighed my final set up tonight at 418 grams AUFW ! I now wait my 4.1x4.1 prop for maiden as current prop 4.7x4.7 pulling around 33 amps, not good !

Yes I feel the need for speed !!

It would be nice if I could fitt 4 cells of TP 2100mah in it somehow.

How about a Mega 16/15/2 with CC 45 on 2s2p TP 2100 and the usual 4,7x4,7'' ?!

Would give about 40 amps, maybe just a little over that in flight.

That's 270 watts for 6 minutes!!!

Any chance of fitting this in it? .... Robert or Mavrik

Hi,

I have flown mine again today, and it's a pleasure to fly
Only still having overheating problems on speedcontroller. After about 4min flights my controller shuts down. I Wasn't able to find a smaller prop to get a lower draw.
So I have to think of something to improve airflow in the fuselage. I will probably make some airscoops

@ Jos: I have taken some measurement for you.

Height inside = 36mm
Height below controller = 30mm
Width inside = 37mm
Width inside = 32,5mm (between wing-saddles)
Servo's controlhorn is sticking out 12,5mm below the wing.

So below the servo's you have max 23,5mm
a 3sTP2100 is 21,5mm, so I don't think you gonna get 2s2p in

@ chris : did you have the oppertunity to take some rpm-readings??

Robert thanks for the reply!

I think there is a way to get it in there if I realy want it. Question is, do I want to?! Maybe not at first. This plane should be plenty quick!

I do have all the components to go either way so we will see when I get the plane. Am having some problems ordering the plane, my fax is broken! Will give Stefan a ring tomorrow. Should be alright.

Regards, Jos.

Hi Jos,

Again do not like your chances of fitting 2s 2p per Robert reply !!

Robert,

Measured APC 4.5x4.1 on my set up prior post.
Draws static 23.5 amps and 29000 rpm. This is much better and falls within parameters of all my running gear just !!

I did not measure 4.7x4.7 prop as was pulling around 33 amps (not good).

If you like I can place prop back on and measure rpm for you.

Maiden will now be next few days !!
