Thank you KrisS and Konnichi wa .
I order immediately. I do not have the friend who races together in the vicinity how many planes it though I have. this size airframe I think that the person who doesn't know the category named F5D is more. Therefore, flying is one usual person. The environment to be able to race is envied. My target is the F5D world championship participation. (biggest target) However, I must start from the search for the companion first of all. It and the ability also(This is the most important. ) You are good at Japanese. It will discuss it in Japanese in the future. HAHAHA! Nice to meet you GregG. Thank you for very valuable information. My best regards. |

Many people use the Realflight simulator for pylon practice as there are online races etc. A very successful gas and F5D pylon racer I know sharpened his skills on the old Dave Brown simulator back in the 1990's.
Not a great substitute for a partner and practice field, but better than flying laps around yourself for fun. Good Luck! Dave |

Kris,
Thanks for the response, I would really like to find something that size that I can run the Mega 16/15/2 in with 2 TP 2100's in parallel. I think I'm just going to have to go with the GP 1100s for now. Gibby |

This is a gorgeous plane. Not much wing area and beautiful lines.
I just finished an ultra light hack of this plane at 5.2 oz all up (80w). With Bigger batts and 3s at 6.95 oz (130w). She's just pod and boom right now, with a little fairing to clean it up. But she grooves like a bat outta hell with 299 watts/pound. She was a few grams lighter, but needed a second full span spar to handle the loads. Definately not as fast as the 300-400w composite versions... but I built it for indoor racing and doubt I'll get it to half throttle ![]() Power is just a tight n50 8t 22 awg CD motor that doesn't even seem to blink at double the power levels my other CD conversions fry at. I'm still grinning from the last round with it. Simple cheap fun. For those with the real thing what is the roll rate like at medium speed? Mine was a little sedate. Felt more like a high performace glider, good for turning left, but not much use for anything resembling aerobatics. Larger stiffer ailerons are the first mod. Sorry no digital cam, but it's ugly anyway. Just minimalist raw power based on a good design. Thanks for finding this little gem. Mike |

Just for fun, how about 4S1P ThunderPower Gen 2 with a Mega 16/15/5 on a 6x3,5 folder.
Motocalc; The full-throttle motor current at the best lift-to-drag ratio airspeed (18,2A) falls between the motor's maximum efficiency current (11,9A) and its current at theoretical maximum output (88,5A), thus making effective use of the motor. The static thrust (787g) to weight (453g) ratio is 1,74:1, which will result in extremely short take-off runs, no difficulty taking off from grass surfaces (assuming sufficiently large wheels), and vertical climb-outs. This model will probably be able to perform a hover or torque roll. What size folder would be max for this plane? Last edited by Kimble_Schmitz; Jun 20, 2005 at 05:05 PM. |

I know this is late post, but if you or any one else gets it, I would like to know how the Voodoo flies and what set up. I could not resist and have a Voodoo sitting on dinning room table. I am in the process of set up and debating various options. I will probably run with a 3 wind speed 400. Am thinking of new 20C lipo say polyquest. Welcome any thoughts. Chris

I fly mine with a Mega 16/15/2 on 7 cells NiMH GP2000 and Graupner CAM 4.7x4.7 prop, I got tired of my lipos dying so soon in my high performance applications. It is a little larger than than other S400 sized planes so it can carry the extra weight of the NiMH cells. Maybe I will switch to lipos when the TP2100 ProPower (20C) are available. In any case I would recommend a brushless motor, for example Mega 16/15/3 on 3s lipos. There is another thread about the Voodoo, see also http://www.rcgroups.com/forums/showp...4&postcount=34 Last edited by KrisS; Jun 21, 2005 at 08:27 AM. |

Aiaiaiaai,
Yesterday's weather was pretty hot over here (+32 deg C)... My voodoo was even hotter (hot as hell)! Even my Alu spinner was hot after the flight... not to mention the pack and motor itself!!! Anybody did some cooling gap jobs on this ship? My setup; B20 15L, 4,7x4,7, 8 good old KAN1050 (poor things) Pascal P.S. Speed is 194 Kph = 121 Mph |

I am in process of setting up Voodoo. I emailed Hollein and they recommend cooling hole and heat sink for motor. They recommend hacker B20 15L ! I will be running mega 16/15/3 with 3S lipo. I suppose I will dremel a hole above motor ? Tail is open at rear so will exhaust. How did you measure speed ?? Chris |
