Flew the voodoo today and was a bit disappointed with the handling
she flew great when gliding but under power was all over the place pulling up and turning a bit as well
I was using a 4.5x4.0 prop and have the cg set at 38mm
Maybe throttle / flap mix required?
Anyone had similar experience?

I find that my Voodoo climbs above about 110MPH. To mitigate it I have a little bit of reflex mixed in with my throttle, about 1/2 mm proportional from 0 starting about 80% throttle. I personally don't have any issues with turn or roll.

Hope this helps,

That's correct, 0 up from 0 to 80%, 1/4 up at 90% and 1/2 up at 100%. You will have to pllay with it a little to get it to work with your specific plane and CG but that is the idea.

What kind of watts are others getting?
I had 560W in my Voodoo with 16/15/4,spin33 and 2s+3s 1350mAh and GM4.7x4.7 folder.

Oh. It went down due to a burned current sensor... Nothing to do with over temping the hardware. in fact, temps were plain cold exept the cells which got barely warm.

Help please

Hi guys
I've had one of these which I lost on the second flight due to the esc catching fire, through a lack of cooling
My original setup was a HET 2w20 with a castle Phoenix 45amp esc
On a Overlander 3cell 1800 mah 25c lipo with the servos in the stock place.

I now have a new model, with a HET 2w 20 again with either a castle 45 amp again or a hobbywing pentium 60 amp if I have one.
I have gone down to a Overlander 1300mah 3cell 25c lipo to make it lighter and have a smaller lipo.
I have done the aileron servo mod, but I'm really struggling on getting everything in with decent cooling and not fouling the aileron servos

Does anybody have some decent pics of their layout please with a similar setup
As I'm nearly at the point of jumping on it ;-) after 6hours and getting no nearer

Thanks
Josh

After flying the Voodoo for a while and have had a couple of others to compare with I can only conclude nothing flies like a Voodoo. (At least nothing I have tried). I can only find one issue with it, that includes the "build". It's lacking 200mm wing span (~8 inches) After 5 minutes in the air my eyes are acing! So my question now, you in this thread knowing how a Voodoo is to build and how it flies. What's the most similar pylon racer too a Voodoo with +200mm span?
Thanks!

I havent had anything as well put together, thought out, and complete as a voodoo. Petr Janku Speedfire f5b comes close, but thats a 2m F5b model.

Theres not much out there in the size range you mention ~40" Escape AKA Stiletto (made by topmodel but its certainly not a voodoo) . The HJK Speedwings LP1.1 is a very nice plane, probably the best bet (but its still not a voodoo haha)

Maybe something like the FVK Plasma, or possibly sunracer... but theyre not perfect either.

Just received my Christmas VooDoo. This little thing looks awesome!

Gear list
Mega 16/15/2
Phoenix 60 esc
CC BEC
2 X d47
Futaba 3154
1800 45c TP 2s to start 3s later
GM 4.75x4.75
AR6210 receiver

I will probably sink the d47 servos in the wing similar to lukeydukey10.

I am just trying to figure out the layout of all of the gear in the fuselage.

Can anyone with a similar gear list let me know what worked best for them? Such as esc in-front of the battery or behind.

Also this is my first folding prop. Is it supposed to be able to fold forward past the 90 deg mark. I guess the centrifugal force keeps it from going to far forward when spinning?? What type of esc braking should I use with it?

Thanks for all of the great info in here.

Sweet, youll love the Vodoo.

Id be cautious about sinking the servos into the wing, wouldnt want to compromise the strength of it it (particularly in torsion). With some thinking and tweeking all your gear will fit fine without surgery

For layouts, click the Thread tools-View attachements menu in the upper right of the forum, youll find something that fits.

The GM F5D props work well, centrifugal force keeps the blades out Hard brake is fine, dont even need a ramp. The blade mass is so low I doubt you'll ever see one with a busted hub.

Be aware that on 3S youll need a new prop, 4.7x4.7 is a tad too big and will likely cook the lil mega. 2S is fine with it though, I run the 5x5 GM on 2S with my 16/15/2 (~130mph)
