I just finished forming an undercambered wing panel for something similar. I removed the paper from the Adams board I got at Dollar Tree and cut a 20 inch span by 7.5 inch chord panel. I scored the front half of the bottom of the panel with a roller for installing storm window seals, about 1/16 inch wide, at 1/2 inch intervals. I rolled in the undercamber with a piece of PVC drain pipe. Between rolling, I used a heat gun to temper the surface of the board as Gene does with blue foam back in Post #11. I got a nice firm undercamber with little spring back. A few ribs of the foam should hold it.

There's little difference between the Adams board and the blue foam besides the thickness. To make the resulting wing strong enough, you may need to take more care reinforcing it. I made a similar wing from blue foam for a Park Pilot EZ-Cruiser and added colored packing tape on the bottom, more for visibility than strength, where I had stripped the original plastic film skin. On board from Dollar Tree, without paper, I'll add colored packing tape top and bottom for strength, though I might not need it for a Gym-blu sized plane flying indoors.

The beauty of the cheap foam is, that if it cracks, you puts down your buck and tries again.

Well i was going to build the gym-blu slow fly stick powerd by a old gws motor and prop from my gws slow stick. I cant currently drive so i wanted something i could try and fly in a small area in my negborhood.

I went to see family my grand fauther built model boats and he passed away 2 years ago my grand mother gave me all his wood mostly balsa and bass wood.

I was given a ton of wood. So wood version? So i started drawing out a balsa version framing. I also plan on building a wing. Where is the plans.. http://www.rcgroups.com/forums/showa...1&d=1105248853

The wing i am going to try and use is the NACA4408 air foil outlined here. http://www.stenulson.net/rcflight/lsb.htm I will have to use bass wood ribs o well..

Think this will work? This is really my first balsa build since 1999 and really my forst designing custom balsa frame from plans.

So Far the tail is done..

I still may make a foam wing first but i feel the wood wing would be lighter and in general ware and tear better

Got the wing plans and pices cut out its 30 inches with 7 degree dihedral. With undercamberd wings. The wings width is 8 inches with trailing balsa edge to match the plan..

Following with interest. If you built this with foam you'd be flying by now, but...... I'm just joshin you, looks very cool. Nice job on those ribs.

One of my first scratch-builds was a slower version of the LiteStick in Balsa and Reynolds Wrap by AZ Chuck. I wonder what happened to him, he was active here back in the day...
