Being that you said "a" Hacker, I guess you are planning on a single motor pusher set-up.
The guy in the shop where I got mine said he has flown them with Sp 400 and an 0.049 in the back.
Said they flew pritty well.
Haven't flown mine yet.
The designer of this plane visits The EZone at times. Search SR-71 and review his posts too.

I was hoping someone would come up with a working model of this plane as I also have one. Let us all know how yours works out, it's a great looking plane! Where is the CG located on yours?

I think Thomas B. has some info on them. I talked to him a bit about where to obtain one over a year ago. He seemed a bit hesitant to recommend one (yes the rocket powered one) for R/C. It has been done and I seem to recall it being a pretty simple setup.
From the reports I recall (years ago) the fuselage shell is quite fragile, especially loaded with lots of weight? Perhaps the B20S direct on some really tiny nicads would be your best bet. Keep it light perhaps.
Should be a simple matter to make an adapter to press fit the B20 into the 'tailpipe' so-to-speak.
I wish I could get my hands on a few of the kits. Would certainly bea fun project.
Anyone have one sitting around?
Have fun with it and keep us informed on the progress!
PS - gosh I just read my post and I didn't give a whole lot of infor there did I?

I bought one last Christmas from a hobby shop in the Atlanta area.
Just east of Stone Mountain. Don't remember the name of the shop.
They had several moro of each, the free flight and RC ones, both type are rocket powered.
I found the shop by a web search. Srarch Hobbylab+sr+71
