TheTick (Ben) Goes 206 with his 2M Carbon Blade!
I just got off the phone with him. He is up at parker with KingoftheHill (Joe) and they are having an epic Santa Ana day with 50+ mph front side. They have video coverage. I'm sure they will be chiming in with the whole story when they get here. What an incredible plane for $600!

yeah, great day of flying... ben went 206mph with his 2m carbon plane and i went 205mph with my carbon opus..... (both on video)
a newbie to DS- Bill (fermin guy, flys the slope ho') went 105mph with a WING on his second outing for DS... major props!...
awesome day! my mach dart delamanated the v-tail again and had to call it quits so i can fix it... my opus landed softly and took a yucca plant's thorns THROUGH the v-tail... no real damage though... and i somehow aquired a 2m cabon blade.... pieces mostly but the v-tail and fuse are fixable... lol..... ben will tell that story.... but it did go 206mph way earlier in the day and landed fine....
easy 50mph winds on the front... my sonic (wing) would barely fly.... strapped 8oz of ballast on the bottom and could barely penetrate.... Bill throws out a Fermin plane at 100oz at 60"span and it was HUGE on the frontside and talks Ben (tick) to DS his fermin plane.... well it all starte out great... ripping right along in the 120's maybe 130's then the wing folded.... TACO all the way down the hill... so as far as i know he's got the fastest Pss DS plane, lol.... too bad it folded the wing... it was an awesome plane and will be missed....
so, 200's are no biggie anymore... now need to go 250+! yeah! lol... not for a while anyways... haha

Outstanding! Great job Joe.
One thing I've noticed lately is that there seems to be a bit of a
brute force approach to setting DS records. Remember back a year
or two when people like Joe Wurts would talk about a "10x" plane.
"In theory you should be able to go about 10x the speed of the wind
with the right plane.. " and of course most planes are only 8x.. or 7x..
or whatever. A foamie.. maybe only 4x.
Well these days to get to 200mph, you need only a plane that can survive
a 50-70mph shear boundary, and be a "4x plane". Don't get me wrong,
I'm sure all of these planes are capable of more, and piloting a 2m plane at
200mph is nothing to sneeze at, it just seems that the trick to setting
a record, be it foamie or crunchie, is to have a plane that's so damn
strong that it can't be broken in the air, and then go out and fly it
in the biggest baddest, nastiest winds you can find. Makes me wonder
if someday someone's going to break the 300mph mark by flying
their plane in a 100mph wind.

forget me... the opus has gone way above 205... ben set a plane record for the 2m blade (the plane you just got )
before today it was 202mph... he stepped it up today 206... and it has more... he only had 30minutes on the plane today.. haha.... its a 210plane at least... hopefully someone will prove it

How did the opus feel at speed????
By the way you can get a carbon opus for the same money as the carbon blade.

Congrats to Joe & Ben!
I stayed home sick today (yep, actually sick..), but found enough energy to head up to Parker in the afternoon to see the speed fest. There was only a guy from Riverside (can't remember his name at the moment). You guys must have departed already. Conditions were epic, great wind, and great shear. My poor old JW experienced a bunch of flutter whenever I pushed it hard.
I'll be paying for getting out in the wind, but it was worth it.

yeah Bill is one hot dude.... sorry Joe I have been monster busy.. my folks are in town and I had to get ahead at work in order to take my vacation as scheduled... The Mb fuse is broke in two spots... the usual joining spot in front of the wing saddle and almost all the way through about 2 inches behind the wing saddle... fixable, and probably DSable too... I just didn't want to buy replacement wings only to fold them again at 130... one piece wings for me from now on... of course 2M extreme excluded..
