Too windy for AP so here is a squirrel

It has been way too windy here to fly. Gusts to 50 mph. So here are a couple squirrel pictures. This guy has been climbing the bird feeder and stuffing himself. The weird thing is, it looks like he has a problem with his left eye. His right eye looks normal but the left one is all white. Also, you can't tell it so much from these pictures but he is missing a bunch of fur from his back. To get the picture I was able to walk up to about 6 feet away and he did not budge. Most squirrels run off before you get close at all. We send out the dog but they just stare at each other. I suppose to make this a legitamate AP thread I will have to attach my little 1.2 ghz camera to him and get some video when he climbs the tree. I don't think that will happen though. He seems a little to crazed to mess with.

Forget the squirrel, put a camera on that little flying saucer with the green batteries. Cool!

Hey Crooser.

Im based in Brisbane, what do you fly? I gather you are interested in AP. Im just wondering whats the best place to buy all the gear. Im thinking of getting the BlackWidow AV kit.. and also a panasonic keyring camera with mpeg video playback.

Anyway It would be great to have someone around that knows their stuff.

Cheers.

That is one seriously possesed squirrel. Does it's head spin 360* and vomit green stuff ?

Ok, there's a thunderstorm outside, it's blowing 30 knots, it's 22:16 local time (dark)....."and we're wearing sunglasses".... (sorry, a blues brothers flashback ) so no flying for me either at the moment!

A young Blue tongue Lizard. You "non aussies" will have to take my word they do indeed have blue tongues.......or do they?

We have plenty of these guys that hang around the yard. My 3 year old plays "crocodile hunter" with them.

The biggest one I have seen is about 12".........as he walked over my feet one day in the garage. I can still feel the lump on my head as I jumped through the ceiling that day As harmless as a harmless thing, but that didn't matter at the time!!

Cheers
Paul

P.S croozer, only at the zoo, will you find a squirrel in AUS.

I know what you mean about 50 mph gusts...we got 'em here in Wisconsin as well. I'm thinking I want to brave the 40 mph gusts we have now just to fly, but I don't have that much gas in my car to drive the 100 miles to find my plane after the wind takes it.

Cool lizard, Gouch !
There are no lizards here in the province of Quebec. It's much too cold for them, even in summer. Though, I once found a small one who managed to survive, apparently unharmed, hidden in the pot of a small cactus imported from Mexico.

I reckon they are great. I found a shot I took last year of one of the larger ones we get. We do get one big old monster that is slightly bigger than this one, and we recognize it by it's missing his-her? left rear toes, and some big old scars, probably from a dog or cat.
They come out on the rear patio to warm up in the morning, then they go and cool off under the rocks and logs my kids set up for them.

To keep my posts "AP forum friendly", did I mention they can fly?

Ah... I don't know about fly - but they can certainly swim

(Although this one couldn't get out of the swimming pool and had to be 'rescued'.)

Swimming is just like flying in very dense air

I think this is the very rare Eastern Hairless Squirrel, found in front gardens along the east coast of Australia

Seriously though, I saw this guy and his mate, who looked similar but green (Water Dragon?) But the green one had run off by the time I got the camera.

P.S. They weren't really mates, both were bleeding around the hind legs, so they were probably fighting over something dead.
