Transporting planes to the field....

I picked up this old XS-1100 Yamaha a few weeks ago and love it. This weekend I took a couple of planes to the Jackson, TN field on it. The ride was about an hour and the planes survived!

Thanks for sending me the photos Dave!

The top shot has Nick King in the background eyeing my setup in awe and jealousy. I noticed that the rear of the bike seems lighter when traveling at speeds over 40 MPH.

That is top notch!! Maybe if you took a different plane with a bigger WS, you could get some real lift on your travels. Is the bike's CG set correctly.

Yes! check the bikes CG and at hwy speeds turning downwind can be tricky when you're rigged up like that.

I really like it! wish I had tried that back in my 2 wheel days.

Looks like a "working man's" wind tunnel. The Wright brothers put their experiments on the front of the bicycle though...

I don't know if I'd like to be the guy riding that bike dog. I'd for sure wack myself in the face once that front top tire starts spinning!

I think that it was not supposed to rotate all the way 'round. I think that it was to test which airfoils gave the most lift with the least drag.

I agree though. It's all fun until someone puts an eye out.

I've carried my superflea on my bike a few times (yamaha TDM850) - be careful with the first launch, as the straps can leave the EPP foam slightly warped and *way* out of trim.

And I thought the teenage kids were bad for putting big wings on the trunklids of their cars.

Speaking of toting planes to the field. I fit a Tiger 2, a Hangar 9 Twist and an
Omei sailplane in the back of Geo Metro. This is also counting field box, tx, fuel,
batts, etc also stuffed in the back.

I have to know - does the prop spin when your riding it?

And wheres the launch device? Get her going about 80 mph and pop the latch - away she goes!

RB: I was worried about that also. Thatís why I've got two planes there to have a cushioning effect on each other.

UB: My wife accuses me of going through my mid life crisis all the time. I personally never recall having not been out of age denial, I'm close to 50 and still have all these toys.

LA: Now that was quite a feat! Does it leak in the rain like mine does??

SJ: Any of my planes that survive a month are lucky!! But yes, that is the reviewed Superfly Twin.

Cam: Yes they do. Launching device ehhhh... All I need is a bungi release device...

Dave: Officer, Sir, errr. Ummm I didn't want guys like you tracing where I live and coming out to pay a visit. I thought those No Parking signs meant Don Parking, I'm dyslexic.
