pmjass, I must say this is one of the best looking fanfold scale models I have seen. I have downloaded your larger version and am going to give it a try. I do have to ask though. What type of adhesive do you use to glue the whole thing together? What did you use to color your depron? I am assuming craft paints. I can't wait for this smaller version to be proven out. Thanks.....Greg

Paint used is Tamiya model car paint (The type used for painting lexan car bodies). It is colour PS16 (I had it laying around). The tamiya paint works very well as it dries very fast, consequently it doesn't get enough time to seriously attack the foam.
I have also successfully used regular spray can enamel paint. The glue I have been using mostly is Selleys Aquadhere Durabond. It is a polyurethane glue. It foams and expands in the joints. Once dry it is easy to cut or sand. Unfortunately it takes about 4 hours to set. It is a very strong glue that sticks to almost anything. There are handling warnings, once on the fingers it sets black and is very difficult to remove with any method other than amputation. Gloves are a good idea, I hate wearing gloves so I try to be very careful and neat with it. Another glue I use is 5 minute epoxy. (for when I'm in a hurry). Finally I use 3M Super77 for sticking on the decals. It is a fantastic contact type glue. Very sticky. I ran into problems with the aileron hinges, I used some plastic flex hinges that proved to be too stiff. I then had to cut the ailerons off and maker new ones and re-hinge with tape. The tape I use for hinges is 3M Blenderm (available from Medical supliers). It sticks to almost anything quite well and it is very flexible. Regards, Peter. |

IT FLIES,
very well in fact. While not the best 3D ship I've ever flown (it will hover) it is a very good indoor aerobatic sports model, which is exactly what I was hoping for. Flight time was 12 minutes. Flew outside, no wind. Will fly indoor at our next meet this Saturday. Motor: Aircraft World DIY CD-Rom 18 turn Double Star Wind. Battery: Polyquest 2S 850 Speed Controller: MGM ComPro 18A (too big, but all I had spare) Receiver: JR500 (An old one with the case removed) Servos: 2 x CS80BB and 1 x GWS Pico F/BB Prop: APC 8 x 3.8" AUW: 226 gms (7 7/8 oz.). Now if I can find somebody with a digital video camera I'll shoot some video. Regards, Peter |

Don't you hate it when your hard drive dies. Straight after that you realise how much important stuff you didn't back up.
I was corresponding with Ken (not sure on correct spelling of last name) and I've lost his email address. Ken if you get this please send me another email. |

I never did get around to posting the plans for the Baby Baron.
I was going to make them $5 USD however I've decided to make them free. They can be downloaded from: http://home.iprimus.com.au/pmjass/S6H9G2/BabyBaron.zip The zip file contains both Letter and A4 PDF versions. Please post in the thread if you get around to building one. Regards, Peter |
