Peter,

Unfortunetly, No, I don't have any CAD software that can handle ether of those formats. Thank you for checking though. I need to get some real cad software ;-)

It sounds like a good set up. I've wound three motors so far although they have all been the Aircraft-World type motors. If haven't tried a GB motor yet.

Do you think there would be much interest in a mini SE5A. I have the plans for
the outdoor version and it wouldn't take much to scale it down for 3mm depron. I like multiwings when using 3mm Depron as the wingspans are shorter and the struts provide bracing consequently it is a lot easier to get a stiffer structure.

Peter,

Did you ever produce the indoor plans for the SE5A? I would love to be able do dogfight in a gym with snoopy and the red barron.

I'm planning on making this little wonder... Would a 24gr 1300KV would do the trick? Or should I put it in a gearbox to reduce the KV?

Cheers,

For anyone thinking of building this great little aircraft, I have been given permission from kzey at Digital Millworks (who used to produce the kit) to post a copy of their excellent build manual.

Enjoy.

Page 3 of pdf manual file in post # 200 right above yours:

3/15/05 ver 0.9 to version 1.0
o Added brushed motor information to specs
o Changed recommended starting C.G. to 1 1/8th inch back on middle wing
o Added note to apply packing tape to aileron surfaces to reduce flex for outdoor flight.

Pictures of th baby baron

I've now built the baby baron, and I thought someone may be interested in some pics.
It flies great. I'm now building the big one for outdoor, an I'm looking forward to the spring, and the withdrawal of the cold Norwegian winter.

I have taken a great interest in WWW1 planes, if someone has drawings I would be most grateful if you could post them to me:

Thought I'd revive this thread and show a couple of pics of mine. Basically standard and hand painted in artists acrylics. I test flew it at the UK Nationals where it was middaired on the Sat evening Out with the UHU POR and some cyano and it was going again the following evening. It still shows some signs of battle, since the fuselage was in two, as were the wings all the struts and tailplane!!!

An ace design, many thanks for sharing.

Ian.

Wow,
great job with the build. Your model looks fantastic. I quickly looked at the pictures and thought that's not my version. It has a full fuz, closer inspection revelaed the T section.

Of late I have been considering reviving my foamy WWI foamies design activities your post may just have provided enough spark to get me going again. I have some camel plans almost finished and I was thinking of re-doing the DR-1 with a central crutch. From some aspects the T looks great from other angles it looks a little ugly.

Thanks for posting.

Regards,

Peter

Well I tried my hand at my first foam build. Made one of each size. I must so that after building many wood and ARF kits I am now also hooked on building with foam sheet.

Here is a shot of my new toys that I just flew over the weekend.
