How fast do you think my Twister is going?

I have been getting a bit of time in on my Twister which I have not flown in awhile. I am useing the same drive that I have always used but am now using 3S packs. The P480 with a CAM 4.7X4.7 is turning at 18.2K RPM so that gives me a pitch speed of like 80MPH right? With drag and all that other associated stuff how fast you think it goes. I have to say that this plane no longer scares me all that much and I am feeling the need for more speed. Losing a couple oz. with the lipo pack has made landing the Twister a fair amount easier, I can now put it down within 20' of where I planed too . I do have a SP480 BB race motor and with a 4.2X4.1 APC prop I have the amp draw with in reason for a 3S TP2100 GII pack and the motor. May have to toss that into the Twister to see what it can do.

Cheers,
Jim

Your math on pitch speed is right. The rpm you measure is presumably on the ground so in the air it will unload to perhaps 20k. In level flight you can probably expect 70-80mph with a little more in a dive.

As Dave said, it will unload and spin faster in flight. With a can motor at those kind of power levels, mine was flying around 74mph level - this one has a lot of wing, so it's draggy, and takes a lot of power to get over 100. I've done it, however - with a brushless - and it's a lot of fun, but still relaxing to fly as it's easy to see, and tracks so well at speed..

Thanks guys, that is kind of where I was thinking it was, does not seem that fast to be honest. I am going to try the SP480BB Race motor and see how that goes and I also have a 15/16/3 that is destined to be used in my KC F/18 that has suffered substaintial hanger rash (have to learn not to kick things in the dark ) I know that is a proven set up. Andy, what were you running to get into the triple digits? I have put a 3/16" carbon tube in the wing so think the wing is strong enough, I guess there is only one way to find out .

Cheers,
Jim
