Not one X-RAY detainee worthy of military tribunal pentagon admits

No Al Quida or Bin Laden group members are among the detainees. The rational now is that these maroons know something about the next terror attack. This too has been a deadend. The pentagon suggests that they might be sent back for prosecution under our new regime. They might also be detained in Gitmo INDEFINITELY. This will not faire well for our guys caught anywhere in the world or tourists. We trounced the Taliban. Is it fair to treat them as if they performed water torture on our troops? It now seems fairly clear that the repurcussions suffered to our democracy were not worth the information retrieved.

I have kind of questioned the wisdom of bringing them onto U.S. soil in the first place. We didn't bring the Nazis or fascists that we captured here for interogation or trial.
What was the point of removing them from the war zone?

Sorry Mr Mootsie it's still valid. These people are all prisoners of war if, as stated, there are no al Qaida, whose status is still vague, and have to be repatriated at the end of hostilities. Still trying to find out on the net what happened to those applications for writs of habeus corpus from the families of Brit and Oz detainees.

because at Gitmo we could control press access.

As a matter of fact. This is new news. We are treating these prisoners worse than most treat their dogs. The SPCA would have you up on charges in an instant. We also have Cuban exiles that tried to enter US that are in infinite detention for life with no charges too. If you are not on US soil and not a citizen, we say you are not entitled to habeas corpus or any other type of corpus. They cannot just give them up as that would be losing credibility. Does that number sink in. Not one in 500 prisoners that we were assured were Al Quida and Taliban commanders are credible enough to put before even the AD HOC Military tribunal. It looks like they are all in our Pakistani pals backyard. Perhaps we can at least put them to good use and get real cuban cigars finally.

I say just send 'em back to thier respective countries. Let each countries brand of justice deal with 'em, we can't seem to do anyting about it. Some will have thier hands slapped, some will have thier heads removed, some with just disappear, etc.....

And Gman2, I bet that that the guards down there would let you into one of those cells down there so you can 'reason' with these animals and check thier conditions. Say give you 30 minutes of uninterrupted dialog.... Guards will even get out of earshot....

Don't see where you are coming from Gman. Shoot, we don't even feed these 'its' pork because it's bad for it; oh but the bleeding hearts say we are treating these animals so bad....

What we allow for the least becomes what what is allowed.

As unions [although they are just a necessary evil] bring up all wages and benefits, so too do the rabid civil libertarians defend your rights as well. For instance, the press and public opinion just shut down the official office of lying in the pentagon. It didnt even get started. Hooray for activism. George Orwell would be proud. Encroachments on our civil rights have been significant.

That is why we need to pay attention to the 2000 people still in custody in this country without real access to even a lawyer, and the POW's in Gitmo. That is why we need to fight against collateral damage. That is why we have to fight against the patriot act.

I guess you should talk to the prisoners of war captured by the Taliban and former Afghani armies.... oh, sorry.... you can't because they all had their throats slit in the Kabul soccer stadium and then were torn apart before parading them around the crowd.

And if the pentagon cant find a single charge for a single detainee

what charge are you going to use to slaughter 2000 human beings. The rest of the world is watching with serious reservations about our constitutionality of action. We would find ourselves isolated by friend and foe alike. We would never be able to stop the terror to follow. As another thread states, We were lobbying for them as nice guys during the period you are talking about. We wanted to be in business with them. Now you are going to slit 2000 throats. I hope thats just jaw flapping as that is truly repugnant. There are many more thousands of foot soldiers as well. Should we slit 20000 throats. How about build ovens or gas chambers.

Well, since they've OBVIOUSLY done nothing wrong perhaps we should give each one vouchers for 2 week all expenses paid vacations in Fiji - round trip air fare for them and their loved ones included, of course.

Just think how impressed the rest of the world would be then!

Petagon Admit detanees are not Tribunal worthy.

Gman2

Please provide me where you got this information from. If not I don't see you comment as crediable. all the news I have read. (cnn.com, abcnews.com,msnbc.com, new york time, washington post, etc......) I have never seen anything stating any such thing. Yes some were release to their respective homeland if they were determined to be nothing more than foot soldiers, but the vast majority that are at Gitmo are there becuase the were determined to have some knowledge of taliban or al-qadua (sp?) workings or actions.
