My new SLICK, is Well, Slick!

Been sending a lot of CDR motors to some guy in Georgia,

So I asks him what he does with them all and he sent me this cool airplane kit.

AUW is 5.5 OZ including a 2S Etec 700 battery

The airframe is light, Stiff and very well designed. I love the control horn design.

I am ready to Maiden, but the Rain, Wind, Snow is keeping me inside. Perhaps Tomorrow

Thanks Randy, Great plane!

Jeff

Depron vs. severe cold?
I know didn't get a chance to fly the Slick yet but, what kind of thrust are you getting form the CD motor? I am thinking of ordering one the these kits and would like to know which motor has the best thrust.
Thanks

Cold made the wings warp.

Thrust is around 10oz on 2S with a 9x5 HD The videos are with the motors I make.

OK... here's the scoop on the motors

Jeff's motor (Westport) puts out a bit more thrust than the LensRC motor. Jeff's puts out 10+ ounces of thrust at about 5900 rpm on a 9x5 HD prop at 5.2 amps. The LensRC motor puts out about 9+ ounces of thrust at about 4200 rpm on a 10x6 HD prop at 4.0 amps.

The videos on our web site actually are using both motors. The video showing the "hover into vertical into blender" is showcasing the strong vertical of the 20-turn Westport motor.

So... which is the better motor? I dunno... I love both of 'em

Regarding the cold warping...
This phenomena is something I didn't experience until a couple days ago. It appears that when the ambient temperature goes below ??? degrees (it was in the 50's when I got the warp), the depron warps and stays that way until it warms back up.

My proposed solution is to fasten flying/landing wires from top and bottom of the fuselage to the LE and TE of the wing about half-way between fuselage and wing tips. The "wires" can be made from spider wire kevlar fishing line or from more commonly available dental floss. The idea is to keep the wing from warping, and this should do it. I can't say it works for sure until I try it next week. Jeff will find out sooner

Gonna use some DuBro pull pull wire.

The warping action could be handy if it could be controlled. The wing warps within seconds of hitting cold air and returns just as fast when returned indoors.

After talking to Randy from MAE I am ordering a Slick with the Westport and a 3402s...he has answered all my questions via email and the plane looks to be a real sweetheart and will be my first venture into the cdrom plane/motor world. It seldom gets cold down here for very long so I wiil just keep Slick inside till it warms a bit..(about a week)..

Curse you,, They are predicting Snow here

And to clarify, cold here is 33 degrees F
Should probably light a fire and stay inside anyway.
