I just finished a GBv1.1 with 20 turns Y connection. I am using the CC10 speed control.

The motor seems to make a lot of noise at 1/3 throttle and below but runs nice and smooth above that. Seems to make plenty of power also.

Any ideas? do I need to adjust the speed control timing?

This is on a new Shocky so I'm looking forward to flying it but I don't want to let the magic smoke out of anything.

What is your setup?

I gust built a GB v1.1 12T. I am using a 8x4DD, 2 cells and a CC controller. Starting with 3 cells and with the timing retarded all the way it would not run above 1/3 throttle. With the timing at the mid setting it would not run above 1/2 throttle. With the timing advanced fully it would run full throttle but rough between 1/3 and 1/2. I then dropped to 2 cells and it runs rough for the upper 1/2 of the throttle range. I will next try changing the PWM switching rate. I will post my results when I get a chance.

a 12T will not run a 8x4 on 3S even on 2S try a 4 or 5 " prop. FOr an 8x4 try at least 17T on 2S. Check the DB on the GObrushless site.

I did a 12 T for my tie fighter prototype and if spun the 4.5 at 13000 rpm at 6 amps.

I rewound to 15T Wye and it runs good now. It has about 8oz of thrust on 2s. It should do better when I get a better pack on it. Next I need to hook up my amp meter so I can see where it is at. If I am much below 6A then I might try 13T.

Other obvious faults would be having missed a turn somewhere, or a small short. When I over-prop mine they tend to run rough at high speed but OK at low power.

Found the problem.... speed control needed to have the advance set. The motor runs like a champ!

Plenty of power on a 8X4.3 and my Shocky flies great!

One dissapointment.... had to add one ounce of lead to the nose making the AUW 6.375 oz.

Fortunatly I traced the pieces and have some Depron on the way. I'll make a new one and move all of the gear forward.
