Is it ethical to crash your plane so you can put the electronics in a new plane?

I'm considering this due to lack of funding

Ive stomped on an airplane before after a mild mishap.... Had this plane I kept breakign and fixing.. never a major crash, but lots of minor repairs.. Dorked it in another time only to have minor damage.. The thought of repairing it AGAIN made me sick so I jstu stomped it into dust... too bad to repair!

I feel stupid right now!
I was playing with it( 40in ws.) in my backyard which is too small and it managed to stay in the air for a 180 turn came at me, I dropped my tx and It crashed and is still alive with only a broken prop and some miner scraches?Is there a word for this.

Hmmm, Not sure I would concider it Ethical. However It might be fun.

I have had a plane or 2 get on my bad side, I generaly take a plane like this and put it at extream risk around obsticals such as goalpoasts, Its only a matter of time before I take it too close hehehe.

However it might not be worth risking the components you hope to migrate to a new bird.

Mat, I,ve never done it yet but have flown some of my beater airplanes taking risks and stunt manouvers before it's retired, All goes to make a better pilot, Right?

From a philosophical standpoint there is absolutely nothing wrong with crashing or stomping your plane to put the gear in another one. As long as you don't cause damage to someone else's property or their body you're ethically ok. It is your airplane and ultimately your decision what you do with it. You're not hurting anyone else by crashing it and your not hurting yourself.

I have been planning on taking the radio gear out of my plane and putting it in another...I hadn't planned on crashing it, but a tall, kindly tree helped me with the removal of the radio gear and engine today. In fact, the wings are still suspended in the branches 40' off the ground!

So crash the darn thing if you want. Just make sure to shut the engine down and pack the radio really good in some foam/foam rubber.

You won't go to hell for crashing your plane...I promise

i say try doing knife edge as low as phyicaly possible until you catch the wing tip and it is destroyed. if that dousnt work then weaken the wing alot by cutting slits or removing vital supports and THEN go about 700 feet and into a full throttle "death dive" and then YANK on the elevator to snap the wing in half so you can see it plummit to the earth. OH YEAH. OR do combat, to the death, with a buddy!

BTW what plane is it? have fun with it!

why not just gut the plane and sell it to help fund a new plane? if that fails then crash it LOL

The "crashed" plane will probably result in a hopelessly bent and useless gear/motor, probable intermittant functioning RX (crystal fracture ?), servos and Esc (and all relater connectors-wiring) and heavy battery plowing it's way thru everything to the ground with possible damage........I wouldn't really "trust" any of the "crashed" electronics to any other plane worth time and any effort.....Besides, most " bad flying " plane attributes are tracable to the trim set-up and pilots flying skills....Can't see any productive benefits from re-using questionable functional flite pack electronics from a "hard" crashed plane into a new plane of any value......... kw

As long as your radio gear is wrapped well with foam it will be ok 99% of the time. My foam gliders have nosed straight into asphalt at well over 40 mph. The radio gear and servos were all fine because they are surrounded by foam.

The crunchy gas plane that I flew into a tree today had radio gear and engine come out of the situation with no problems at all. Now if you're flying it straight into the ground at 150 mph the stuff may not make it. But a somewhat gentle crash isn't going to hurt the stuff.

I would recommend flying it into a trees branches way up high. Cool sound. Neat seeing all the parts flutter and bang down. Pretty gentle on the gear. And you never know what might get stuck 30' above your head! It was actually a very cool crash...I couldn't have picked a better crash scenario on my own. Glad that tree helped me out!

I do a "spar check"

When I'm "done" with a model I take her up real high, put her in a vertical dive and at about 50' pull full up elevator. A fun way to "retire" a plane.

You might want to consider the potentail damage to the electronics before you purposely crash your airplane... You'll be pretty bummed if you end up with a couple stripped servos and a dead rx - or worse yet, when your new airplane goes in due to a delayed radio failure (like an antenna with an internal break).
