Pictures

Here are a couple of pictures. Below is the radio gear installed. I tested the servo's and they seem to have a bit of jitter. Moving the EZ connects in to reduce the torque helped reduce it. I think the throw will still be enough.

Cowl

Here is a closeup of the cowl attached. Also, note the wheels. I was not happy with the GWS wheels so I got some new ones. I have used these on my estarter and the ROG are much more smooth with these typewheels.

Other pictures

And a couple of other pictures of the nearly finished plane. I would attach the wings tonight for a final picture but will keep you waiting in anticipation. I worked all last night and am too tired to complete.

Dont forget to cycle your cells!

Nothing burns a maiden quicker then non cycled cells, with the exception of incorrectly reversed servos.

I hope your not going to fly on that cell pack that is in the picture. Are you?

Sure that is one of my best packs!
Actually that is a couple of old cordless phone batteries put together to give me a cheap 7.2v battery to use for testing servos, programming my Pixies, testing receivers. Guess you could call it my shop battery.

Too cramped

In trial fitting my plane tonight I noticed that the following picture with electronics does not work. The aileron servo hits the receiver when placed where it is in this picture. I am still trying to fit it together and will post a final picture later.

Any thoughts on the chatter I am getting from these small (cheap/inexpensive) servo's?

I haven't heard much about the interflight 4.6g servos but a lot of the smaller servos have a reputation for being jittery.

Have you tried different servos in the same receiver/esc combo?

Try to use a dedicated receiver battery instead of the esc to eliminate the ESC as a suspect.

I use 8-cell 2/3A packs in my GWS PT-17, and will do the same in my TM400 that is not yet built. Use either a side-by-side flat pack or a double-stick (4 cells end-to-end, two cells wide. The latter is just a tad shorter and also narrower, and is my favorite. I think it will still be necessary to remove a little foam on the upper underside of the pack cavity so the packs will slide in through the cockpit opening (I saw this in another thread), but this will fit the best and will get enough weight up forward for balancing with little or no clay (from what I've been told by others).

This is the main reason I don't use end pin RX anymore!
