Greetings all. I will be traveling to the Bay area next week and was wondering if anyone knew of any good Hobby shops in the area. I will be in the San Francisco/Oakland area Mon thru Thursday. Thanks

I can't remeber if it's the largest U.S. or largest west coast hobby store there in mountain view. It's called san antonio hobby shop.
I went there once, it's big. The always have a little add in RCM magazine

San Antonio in Mt. View (Just south of Palo Alto) as mentioned above is an excellent hobby store in the Bay Area. It is on the south end of the Pennisula and has a wide variety of electrics and an excellent book department. Sheldon's in San Jose is a good hobby shop but not as many electrics as San Antonio. Several good train stores but those are the two good flying shops that I know of in the Bay Area. In Sacramento R C Country is excellent. Michael Heer

Alas, Mike and AMTJIM are correct: there aren't any good shops in SF itself. San Antonio Hobbies is about 40 minutes south, but worth the trip. There's a great flying site nearby too, so if you really want to play hooky let me know and I'll direct you to that as well.

Sheldon's

I'd say Sheldon's has a pretty good amount of electrics now, they have a whole shelf the width of the store full of various models. I know their back shelf is all gliders or gas but they've since upgraded and joined the new wave.

Well, I will throw a wrench into this.

Got to RC Country in Sacramento. It is 1 hour from SF on 80.

It is worth the drive, and they are EP friendly!!!!!

6011 Folsom Blvd. Sac. 916-731-5868 and they are open till 7PM.

Send me a PM and I will give you directions or just take you there!

That 1 hour trip must be at "Deputy Sheriff" speeds, since it's a 90 mile trip from SF to that Hobby Shop!
(Sorry Fred, couldn't resist)

Well, he said he would be in Oakland! I get there from vallejo in 45 minutes, at normal speeds.

But do you agree it is worth the drive????????

There is a new Hobby Town USA now open in Concord near the corner of Clayton Rd and Treat Blvd.

He doesn't have a huge airplane section yet but he is working on it.

The last time I was in there he had Tiger Moths for $49.95.

Sheldons has a huge selection of e planes now.

Not worth a drive from SF, but if you're in the area , swing by there--Rob
