That Piper looks very light, maybe they even used decent wood to make it unlike the modern kit wood, I don't know?

Could be mahogany (from 1947 I wouldn't put too much faith in it "looking" light! )

Balsa was hard to get post-war due to its being classified along with Unobtainium for Mosquito production.

Ojimy, beautiful aircraft. I like the look of all those ribs, and the color choice. Thanks for sharing it.

I also like the video of the "Wanderer" by Eduardo Yamin. Does it flutter down like that when the power is out? A good way to get back the plane!

Got inspired this weekend to dig out the CO2 freeflights and prep for flying. First one up is from a Ralph Hunt kit built about 15 years ago. 27" span--Jap tissue--Brown Jr. engine--Trexler wheels--it's ready to go. Sorry for the poor photos.
