Cheers,
Those 'rollers' are home made. They started off 20 years ago as swimming pool lane floats. They are 2 1/2 in. dia. and had a hole in the centre so you can thread the cord onto lots of them to make the lanes in pools.
They were bright red plastic, so all it took was some tube epoxied into the centre hole then painted with silver in the hub, then black to look like tyres.

I was lucky enough to 'win' 4 of them, and the other two are on the 64in Mercury Aeronca. Been on that for years and years, and no sign of breaking.

Intend to bring the Black Magic, plus some others to Muswellbrook in May, so you can take a close look then.

Oh dear me, and I thought it was a fine drop of "Old Henry".

Thanks for the compliment on Black Magic. It's bound to fly, I am feeling very confident. It looks just right all over.

WELL --It's half past midnight here and I have just read this thread through from the start in the hope of finding a pic (or pics) of a KK Ajax.

NO SUCH LUCK.

I understand Replikits will be out with a laser cut kit of a replica Ajax at the end of this month.

If it eventuates I will build one and post it on this thread.

Cheers. Paddy.

Look forward to it.
Always was one of my favourites back in the '40's and memories are now somewhat rose tinted.

I flew an Ajax in 1966 and it was described by Pylonius as "corpulent" and a "relic" even then! The KK Ace was positively svelte by comparison!
Phine phliar though; so gan on, gan on, gan on yersel', Oldpilot (as the Glasgow ladies say).

The Ajax is a 'dear old thing', isn't it----a bit like me. LOL. Built mine in '77.
It's from 1939, if anybody cares. Louis Heath design.
Will take a look for mine, and the Ace and throw them 'in the ring' too.

The Ace, by the way was the first model I ever won anything with. 5 Quid for first place in, was it 1953 or 4?

See, it is rosy! My first 'plane to break the minute
... and a few more too!

Those were the days of L²/100 still. Couldn't get a
winding tube in that nose though. Come to think of
it we didn't have them then.

Thanks Mark. Thanks very much. You have made my day. I have to say that my interest in the Ajax is purely nostalgic. I built one when I was 14 and the memory is almost certainly seen through "Rose Coloured Glasses".

However I would still like to build another, if only for old times sake.

Here is a shot of my free flight Supermarine S6b, before covering. It was built for the "Wet Welly Day" in Clayton S.A. in 1997. I was taken ill with jaundice and couldn't attend that year. I was all set for 1998---but the event was postponed and was never rescheduled. So it has become a Hangar Queen.

Cheers. Paddy. (The Irish McGillicuddy)

Nice one Jiffy. Lookinh good.
Is that the motor you were
waiting for your father to build
for you? That looks good too!
What span is yours then? The
wood sizes look smaller than the
ones on my 80" Senior. If so, I
did not realize there were two
sizes with the same name!! My
plan also shows the cabin version.

Must admit you have shamed me
into doing something about getting
on with mine. It has been
gathering dust since this thread first
started! Where does time go?

Keep up the good work, looking forward
to seeing the finished and flying shots.
Best wishes.
