Ron,

Most of the IMS stuff comes with condenser paper (like my F1L EZB above), but it's easy enough, and lighter, to use Ultrafilm from Ray Harlan (http://www.indoorduration.com/HarlanBrochure.htm). I think the Ikara Bulldog is available with plastic covering, too. As I recollect, it weighs about 4 grams that way. Not bad for an RTF, IMO.

If you're really serious about getting into indoor, subscribe to the Yahoo Indoor group (http://groups.yahoo.com/group/indoor/). There are some real pros on there, including several former world champions, the current junior world champion, etc. Even Steve Brown, Mr. 1-Hour-aloft...

Ron,

Seriously, stay away from microfilm. It's extremely difficult to use. I've built two "mike" models, and the film tore whenever it touched ANYTHING. Plastic films are much stronger than microfilm, though it is the lightest covering possible at present. I've heard that microfilm averages less than .3 micron, while OS film is .5 micron. Super-Ultrafilm/Polymicro is .9 micron (and still ridiculously light).

Pistachio anyone?

So here's my latest. Yea, it's only 8" span. Weight is about 1.5 gram and its best flight is 43 sec.

SIG Tiger.

SIG Tiger all finished as a park flyer for the Grand kids.
Gave it a glide, then 50 turns on the loop of 1/4 and it looks okay.

Comet kit P47.

Comet kit P47. Built long ago, now my Grandson's.
Not a wonderful flyer, but it's okay on low turns in the local park.
24in span, with a loop of 1/4 is enough.

Lavochkin.

Lavochkin built from a Veron plan 3 years ago.
Ducted home made fan (anyone have a Phil Smith one to sell to me?),Cox .049 engine, but a bit sick, so have only had it power gliding.
Ron Churnich in our Brisbane F/F club also has one, and it flys like a bird.

My Sparky

Here's a pic of my Sparky that I just finished up. Covered in yellow jap and sprayed with floral paint. Not too sure about the weight yet as I still need to add rubber.

Thanks. They use Floral paint to paint flowers. It is found in craft stores here in the US. It can be put on lightly yet be very opaque. Not much weight added when used. Now if I could just learn some better masking techniques I'd be all set!

Howard, I think that Phil might just be able to help direct; I know he used to sell various impellers. Worth a try....
