Qual Comm internal resistance
I decided to measure the internal resistance of the cells in a Qual Comm 830 mah pack at room temp and in the cold outside.
Inside (70 deg F): 465 mohm/pack of two cells
Outside (32 deg F): 793 mohm/pack of two cells
I use these packs in situations where I have used 110 mah NiCads and 270 mah NiMh cells because the weight of the resulting packs is similar. I have measured these cells to have 57 and 110 mohm/cell respectively at 70 deg F. Packs of 6 cells (close to the voltage of the Qual Comms) thus have total internal resistance of 342 mohm for the Nicads and 660 mohm for the NiMh.
The Qual Comm packs beat the NiMh at room temp and even in the cold are not much worse than the NiMh at room temp.
NiMh packs have always been disapointing in the cold weather. It looks like the Qual Comms will be good for winter flying.
