Dang, I was disappointed to see this happen. Our club has had a website with RCGroups for a while now, and it's been completely problem-free. Having access to the service allowed us to continue operating after one of our members threw a hissy-fit and kicked us off his server when things didn't go his way.

I was hoping to start up a small model related buisness website using this service, but I guess that isn't possible now? Anybody have any suggestions as to another good provider that offers webspace for a reasonable price?

I just found this thread from www.rchomepage.com site..

My question is... how come this wasn't a problem when Bud was running the site and as soon as he left it became an issue?

You could try these guys:
http://www.freeservers.com

They seem to have some sales on right now, too. $1.66/month and free setup. This isn't a "recommendation"; I haven't used them personally. But I bookmarked them years ago and they're still around. I think that says something...

It allways was a problem. It was a problem for me the first day I took over the webhosting administration from the previous person running it. The solution was to spend many hrs tweaking settings, after each automatic software update. I spent 12 - 20 hrs a week keeping after the web server and accounts. Every update would create another set of headaches issues to deal with. As the software on the server got newer and more up to date, the hardware had a hard time keeping up with it. While the whole time more and more accounts were being added to the system. I have since leaving rcgroups assisted a couple the largest rchomepage users http//www.theprofilebrotherhood.com and http://www.gobrushless.com with moves to another system.

I will not go into my reasons for leaving but will say I doubt very much that the rchomepage administration will have the time required to keep the rchomepage server running with any type of efficiency and stability on its its present hardware. It is just to much work.

Colleen,
How are you doing? Getting anyone to move yet?
I have a small club web site here and would hate to see this service
come to an end. Up until a few months ago, this site was 100% reliable, now I see more down time. Just curious about your progress, since how
well you do will influence whether We stay or leave. I know I can't ask for
anything better at this price. I am just hoping for the best.

Thanks for all that you do Colleen!

I can let a few folks on now...

Thanks, Bud for letting the members know a little of how it was and how it is.

A couple of the biggest hosted sites that had outgrown shared hosting and needed to move have done so. I'll take requests individually now via PM but not publically.
If you want a site you need to

a) have RCGroups banners on it
b) host your big videos/graphics elsewhere (I suggest the RCGroups gallery)
c) have a website, i.e. not show those directory listings
d) know how to build one.

Done deal. I did not get a PM request but all files deleted from the server.

Thanks for the use of the server. Will create a page as soon as possible.

Charlie06: there's limit on a size of file uploaded to gallery, I believe it is 8 megs. Please make sure your movie size is within this limit.
