Fw-190D9?

Can anyone tell me if there are any plans for a Fw-190D9 (Long nose but regular wing). I'm looking in the 30-35" rage for a GWS drive. I know there are a lot of Ta-152s and short nose 190s, but I've been unable to find a D9 set. It could even be a Free flight set that I could modify. THe guillows looks a bit small for what I want, and its the short nose.

FW-190D plan

D-Rock

There was a 1/12 scale (34.5 inch span) gas powered RC FW-190D published in Model Aviation a few years ago. The article can be downloaded from the AMA web site, and the plan is also available from AMA plans service.

There was also a smaller 1/24 scale rubber powered FW-190D published in Flying Models a good many years ago. The model was by Pres Bruning, and the plan is still available from Flying Models.

Let me know if you want more info on these.

D-Rock, there was a version of the TA152 with a short wing like the D-9, it was the TA152C. I've been thinking of taking the Diel planes and taking then up to 1/16th and clipping the wing to look like the C version. I too like the D9 the best.

Peruse the kits & plans page at www.rccombat.com for planes in that size range. Or, get a Ta-152 from www.jkaerotech.com and clip the wings to '190 size. If you build lightly and don't detail it out, you'll have it flying in a week.

How about just using the FW-190 plans and adding the longer cowl yourself? From what I can tell the longer nose is circular, just a little smaller in dia than the short nose. Hard part would be the transition area to the smaller dia (pink foam is your friend ).

There are a lot of good photos out there on the Ta152 you can use for reference.

This site www.aalmps.com has a cool laser cut TA-152 that you could cut the wing down on. The link seams to be hit and miss, sometimes it works and some times it does not.

Thanks for the info guys. I do have the Lidberg Ta-152 plans, but it would be a large task to modify those plans to a D9. One interesting thing about the different versions, when they went to the D9, they added an extension to the rear of the plane, right before the verticals leading edge, of about 2 feet. (not exact on that mesurement). When they went to the 152, it was a new wing and they added another section to the tail making it longer and improving the over all moment. The D9 was a stop gap between the short nose and the 152! Murola, I'm not familure with RCME mag, could you tell me more. John B, about those free flight plans you mentioned, can you tell me more. A free flight structure is kinda what I've been looking for, simply because they tend to be lighter.
Thanks again to those who posted.

Flying Models FW-190D plan

You can order the plan from the Flying Models Magazine web site:

http://www.flying-models.com/

The construction article was published in May 1973. Span of the model was 17.25 inches, so double size would give you what you want. I can send you a 3rd generation copy of the article if you want it.

Here is a scan of the plan from the magazine:
