hi all,

i just put together some photos of the building process of this new airplane design. i haven't test flown mine yet, but having seen one in action, i'm dying to try for myself.

made of 6mm and 3mm depron, "slick" uses a small cdrom brushless motor for power. the build is easy and fast, and i didn't run into any problems during the build.

"slick" is surprisingly stout for its size, and should give shocky-types a real run for their money. enjoy the pics.

2-layout of parts
3-start coloring with markers
4-carbon plates glues onto wing leading / trailing edge
5-attach motor stick onto frame

3-hot glue in servos
4-attach tail feathers
5-add control wires for tail group

1-glued in and completed tail group
2-tape on one airleron
3-slide wing into precut slot
4-glue wing onto fuselage / attach other aileron
5-optional (personal) beef-up mod on the elevator bottom... the plane does not require this, but i tend to hit the ground quite often...

Like your color scheme. Simple and looks good.

1-close up shot of hot-glued servo

4-prop saver mounted on cdrom motor shaft

oh, yeah... here's a shot of the motor mount from m-a-e, which nicely hugs around the cdrom base tubing. nice and light-weight design, i might add.

i've used gws glue, which i have a ziplok bag of, and some 10 minute epoxy, for the wing and tail group mounting to the fuselage. with depron construction, it is pretty easy to use whatever glue type you prefer to work with, of course other than regular ca, which will melt a hole right through...

i did cheat a little here though... since i had this whole red/black theme going on, i went ahead and made my own "slick" sticker, which is mounted on the left side of the wing. it's pretty slick, i think... yahaha. overall, i think the build time was around 4-5 hours, including glue curing time. if i built another one, i could probably do it under 3 hours, i would think.

can't wait to fly this thing.

thanks! i kinda started more conservatively on the canopy area with straighter lines, then opened up a little bit to curvy patterns on the wing and tail feathers.

felt-tip markers are great to work with and fast.

Great. Watching. Fingers are getting itchy, want to reach for that phone and order a little one of my own. Vid's look great on this one, very smooth and stable and fully 3D capable.

dang..really nice build thread man! and it looks real good as well...go and fly the thing!!
