What battery packs do yous use in your Speedy?

What battery pack do speedy pilots use in theirs? I am flying mine for about 2 weeks know. I have only tried 8x600ae so far. When I got flying again I'm going to try 8x1000nimh. I sure like the speedy. It is kind of fast at full throttle, good climbout and very good areobatics. And when the power is off, this thing is a glider, sure glides well. And I like do no power loops, just a little dive and you can do consective loops with no power?

It is the speedy that new creations sells. Thats the only place i ever saw it. It isn't a real plyon plane. Just a fast sport plane. has a T-tail. I use a Permax 6V 400 know, going up to a Permax 480 soon and a 5-5 cam racing prop.

Give the RS 1600mah AA NiMH pack a try. Power will be down only slightly but the flight time will be waaay up. Adds a bit of weight though so move the pack back a bit. You may need to trim the balsa former a bit to get the pack into the fuselage.

With an AF 010 micro brushless I used 8 and 10 cell AAA NiMH packs as well as 600AE packs.

Good luck!

I tried my 8x1100au pack in it. It work excellent with that pack. Same power as the 8x600ae! I got 8 minutes with it. I also practice elexaco with it with a 7x270. I get good times with that gliding.

You will need to 'fold' the pack which is common for these packs. This makes it 4 sticks of 2 on a square configuration.

Good luck and have fun! It's a great little plane. Flew the heck out of mine. Very long flights on a 7.2V speed 400 with the radio shack pack.

Yeah the 8x1600nimh will work very well in it. Just have to make them in a "brick configuration". I don't use 8x1600nimh to often in the speedy, I mostly use 8x1000nimh and 8x1100au. Really performs with them and nice flight times. Tic, you shoud really like it, a great plane, one of my favorite E-planes!

TIC et al. -

Folded Flat pack:

Brick Pack:

So, which is it? Or do both fit?
If both fit, the brick configuration is more popular and will work in more applications than the folded configuration - for the future projects - since it will fit in the narrower fuselages.

Hello All,

So - if Tic were to carefully alter the layout of his cells to that shown in the top sketch, then they would fit into his new Speedy as well as the brick packs he has ordered ? LOL
Or is that battery bay just the right size as to accept the following packs ?

Brick - Flat - Folded - ( and ) 'Two rows of four end to end' ( you lot can all come up with a name for that ! - stick packs ? )

Yes - I really do need to know !

Keven.
