Pete,

I feel your pain! If there is one bad thing about balsa, it's watching her get beat up by the cruel mother earth. It looks bad but it also looks like a fairly easy fix. Wings look intact including the tail section. Put Tony back in the air!!

Well I had an interesting thing happen to my Stella this weekend as well. I have about a dozen flights on it, flies like a champ. Well I landed on Sunday and was going to gun it on the ground to get it back to where I was standing. Instantly the front of the nose EXPLODED!!! The motor mount came apart and disintegrated the cowl as well. The motor is fine. I was asking for trouble because I am using an AXI 2808-24. Anyone using this motor should fiberglass/reinforce the base of the motor mount. Thankfully the rest of the plane is fine. Just a new cowl and new mount and she'll be back in the air in no time. I'll try to post pics later this afternoon

Does anyone other than me feel that this rash of mishaps warrants a full FAA investigation?

Maybe I shouldn't have been wearing my friends don't let friends fly foam shirt around all those foamie pilots... Iíll let her sit in the corner for a week, pull her back out and reassess the damage. I blew a servo pocket out of the wing, but other than that, thereís no damage. The fuse looks a bit worse though.

Here's my exploded motor mount. If anyone wants a little reassurance, fiberglass where it broke. I'm not going to use this mount again, I'm using one of the AXI metal ones. Again, this is my fault it broke, I'm using the AXI 2808-24 motor.

Berg 5 Receiver Set Up

I have almost completed building my Stella. I am using a Berg 5 DSP receiver.
All my previous planes used just 3 servos (rudder, stab and ailerons).

How do you configure the receiver to use 4 servos?

Thanks in advance.

There were instructions that came with your RX that showed you how to convert channel 5 to channel 6 (as your transmitter sees it). Best I can remember, it had you make a jumper wire that was used to program it.

It's easier to buy a Y-connector. You are also going to need a servo extension wire for the elevator servo.

(I would have linked to StevenAero's site, but I couldn't find the Y connector there.)

My Berg came with the jumpers but I didn't need it as I have a Hitec Flash 5 which uses channels 1 and 5 for ailerons. Scott's right, it's in the directions that came with the receiver, you didn't throw it away did you?

Len,

I'm headed to Phoenix later this week so I may just drop by on Troy. I used to live by him a few years ago....

After two weeks of being grounded due to work and weather, today I finally took my two favorite birds out to the park again. Here are some shots... (courtesy of Andy - a member of our club)
