planes that can use the GWS DXA and Qualcomm 830s

I am SO happy with the cost, flight times and performance of the GWS DXA and Qualcomm batteries that I am looking for more birds that can use this power setup. Here is the list of planes so far that people have used the GWS DXA geared motor and Qualcomm 830 battery pack in. Any more?:

I've used these in my Pico FD Cub with great results. 20++ min with more to go. I'm not sure which will cut off first the batteries with circuit board or the BEC/ESC..Luv these Q830s

GWS J3 Stick (or whatever the name is), GWS 10X4.? prop, GWS 2 amp speed control. Battery cuts off before speed control does, so beware, but it still will fly maybe 40 minutes or more (depending on how much throttle you use). Battery gets weak before it cuts off. In practice I use a stopwatch and stop flying at 25 or 30 minutes.

The effect is sadly temporary

It's designed around them.

The Frog is completely designed around the DX-A and the GWS pico gear. I've been flying it on the Qualcomm 830's since the beginning.

I routinely get 30+ minute flights. I've never run out of battery in the air (By ESC, or protection circuit) I guess it's too cold outside, and flying in the golf dome you get 20 minute slowflyer time allotment, and 20 minutes for Parkflyers. I usually go that entire time with a short break on one battery pack.

I used to fly my GWS Cub FD on the same motor and batteries, and did have the BEC cut off before the pack did once. No problem.

Hey Genebond:

How does the And_Now fly on the GWS and 830 setup? Good setup for indoors? (Like a one basketball court sized venue?)

What prop should I use?

Thanks!

I've never flown indoors!

The qc 830's on the And_Now are a little soft. Need to go to a 10x8 prop for decent performance. I like an 8x300 w/ 9x7 better, but it works.

I have trouble staying focused longer than the 300's last anyway on these twitchy-psyco planes!

I could fly it in a single basketball court, but I garantee I would break something eventually! It likes speed. The Tiny would be better for this small area. It's a lot lighter.

Thanks for the reply! I'll give the Tiny a try instead, I think.

Do I have to scale it up or down to suit the GWS-A setup? I wouldn't think so... but I thought I'd ask.

Any gotchas or tips for this set up?

The standard Tiny works fine w/ DX-A. I added a little to the chord on my BluCor version, to try to make up for extra weight.

Add the Dumas Kestral to the list. Flys great on a DX-A / 10x4.7.

Oh yea, you could add the Hissy-Fit, if that desert rat would get off his butt and update his web page, so guys could buy the plans!

Yea, you, AZ Chuck! The plans I got were better than what a lot of guys sell for twice the anticpated price, so get busy selling! Unless of course you are scared of the higher tax bracket....
