Anybody got a stronger mount for a Formosa wing?

My last one tore the mount out on a gentle crash. I considered gluing it together, but I want to be able to access my gear under there. I plan on hand launch and belly landling, so I would like a idea for a stronger mount.

You could go with bamboo skewers and rubber bands like many other planes (e.g. Tiger Moth).

Unless your plane is way overpowered, it should work. I am in the middle of a Formosa build and am considering doing this. If you try it, and it works for you, post the results.

I broke my mount long ago. Basically screwed it up upon the build.

I cut out the foam where the bolt enters the fuse. I replaced that with a 2 inch piece of basswood. I epoxied the basswood to the back wall of the fuse where I removed the foam. I then drilled a hole the for the bolt. Voila the best mount for the formosa.

Check out the GWS section of the forum. Search for Wing Mount. You should see some othere options. Good luck.

I ended up using 3 rare earth magnets to hold the wing on. I have a AXI 2212/26 and 3S lipos and haven't had a problem in about 10 flights. Well I did crash a few times, once breaking the elevator off. many time the wing was just laying a few feet away and undamaged.

I reccomend it.
