Giving away almost complete Calypso

Hi fellow Calypso builders,

I am parting with my nearly complete Calypso. See photo. It is a modest build, nothing spectacular. I planned on making it an RC boat but passed on that years ago. I have made some contributions to this thread.

The model is free and includes any pieces I can still find, work books, and plans. The only cost will be for the shipping. I did a sample calculation for a 12 pound box, 40x18x10 from 91307 to 10001, a cross USA shipment. I am asking $35 to cover the cost of shipping and packaging supplies. Of course, local pickup would be best. I am located in West Hills, California in the San Fernando Valley about 25 miles from Los Angeles.

Let me know,

Iran Ausley

Hi ir3, great build!

Please let me know if you ship to Norway. I want to give it to my old man. My build was (is) a father-son project and I`m dying for keeping it in my place. He put alot of work in the build in 1994. Soon it will finally be complete!

Giving away almost complete Calypso

Hi Kim,

Shipping to Norway will be a very expensive proposition. The model is not complete and would require some work to get it to be a reasonable Calypso. I am hoping someone local will take it. For overseas shipping I would have to make it very secure but for shipping within the US I can probably get away with a box and bubble wrap or pop corn or both.

Regards,

Iran

Hi Iran.

I see.. I dont think you need any more than a solid/thick box and alot of bubblewrap. Can`t see any difference between crossing US or ship to Norway. Anyway, its your call. The model seems quite complete from the picture as I see it..

Still ploughing my way through this delightful thread I stumbled on this photo used for the interior of the submarine.

I have an idea. Why not produce two images and cut the divers out of one and mount them slightly raised on the other? That way you'd get a 3D-like image.

Ciao Roberto o Graham,
this is my forth attempt to reply to your message.
You say that you are planning to make the Seabex One, but in another thread I saw that you have already started the construction. I didn't know the model, but I went on youtube and saw it : great model !!!!, even if a bit hard.
I agree with you to go to Lago Trasimeno, or Rome, when your model will be finished. I made many other models, and if you are interested in seeing some of them, go to page 80 and following of this thread.
Sorry for my poor english.
Ciao

Does anyone have any images of the ships launch.? I remember seeing an image somewhere but I can`t find it. The kit doesn`t give any detail. There is plenty of images of a zodiac but not the launch type of boat.

Jeka...Do you have any overview pictures of your model? I`d like to see what it looks like as a whole. You do really great work.

Thanks

Hi all
I saw that you asked for photos of the ship launcher, calypso had two launchers and they are a bit different. Billing Boats launcher is the older type of the launcher
