Scale guns for my PT boat

I am in the process of assembling a couple of HR Products 1/24 scale white metal casting kits. Here is what I have so far. White metal is fun to work with!

That's a great looking gun kit there Kmot.
It isn't going to roll your boat over or any thing because of the weight is it?

It won't. I scratch built a 1/32 scale Elco 80 foot PT, it's 30" long. I used HR Products guns on it, a 37mm and 20 mm forward, twin .50's in the tubs, and a 40 mm aft.

Kmot - here's some close up pictures of my PT. The hull is palsa planking on plywood frames, and fiberglassed. Superstructure is mostly styrene, the .50 cal gun tubs are PVC pipe parts. The main deck is plywood. The toe rail on the fore deck is strip styrene, the cutouts were made with a paper punch.

Some more pictures. The torpedos were made from Estes rocket nose cones and plastic florists vases (test tubes almost). The rocket nose cones are the after section of the torpedo. The model has working lights. The counter rotating props are by Octura, if I remeber correctly they are X427's.

Man, Every time I see pictures here, I waffle between being totally inspired and sitting with my head on the keyboard saying "I'm not worthy" over and over again. Nice work on both boats!

Awesome work!

Bob, your PT is simply outstanding!!

I got my Bofors mounted and used some scrap pieces from the original Midwest gun to make a barrel carriage lock, lol.

What's left of the original gun:

Still need some paint details:

1:32 PT 109 boat from Nautical Marine

Hi,

I have been building my PT 109 by Nautical Marine for a few months now. All fittings are true to scale and have amazing detail. The hull is GRP Fibre Glass, has a 3x motor drive system with custom made prop shafts. All I have left to do is the mufflers on the stern and then she's ready to sail. It runs on a 7.2v battery for about 15 mins on the bench, can't wait to put her in the water.

I'll post more pics as I get closer to finishing.

What are 'deadlights' please?... Are they vents or lights?

Lights in the deck surface, that were very dim yet allowed the crew to walk on the deck in the dark and not fall overboard.

Only dim if the cabin lights were turned down to that low "romantic" setting!
They were actually mini-skylights to let natural light into the cabin. Glass with frames having ribs over to keep Jack from putting his foot through. "Dead" 'cause they don't open.

I have the Elco print for it, but it's barely legible, won't reproduce here...
