Would this work (see drawing below)? I enlarged everything up to 42" and added a c/f arrow spar between the wings? I have one of two power plants I could use:

* GWS geared 280/300 pushing a 1180 prop
* Astro 020 d/d w/5.5x5.5 prop

Is this just "too big" to work? Here's a 42" delta wing I built a few weeks ago with a flat-plate wing - I was really surprised how well it flies with the 020 on it (see photo below). It has no dihedral and the wings flex during "high-g" maneuvers - even with the "generous" addition of fiber-reinforced tape.

Thanks,

Buzz

I've measured the weight of my edp 50's with their props. The lightest one is 16 grams and the heaviest is 19 grams. I will probably use a thunderpower 860 7.4v lipo. I'm looking for slow flight with this, not speed. Thanks

Buzz

that would probably work imoho

If i were to do it i would go with a speed 400 dd though
8.4v ni-mh 600mah and a 7" prop

You would need a lot of reinforcement though

this thing would be heavy and verry fast

By the way
why do you conceal your face?
something to hide???

i agree with ewo .... you should try to work with direct drive. we all know flat plate wings work (there are a million of them) but until you try a little dihedral, you cannot expierience how much easier they are to fly.

ray

the j250 with prop weighs 37 grams, so there is a big difference there. you may need to have the servos as far forward as they will go (battery pack front middle and servo on each side of it) in order to balance out

Okay - I'll use the 020 w/direct drive and see how it goes. The only cells I have are 3 cell 2100 mAh lipos. I kinda like this powerplant/drivetrain vs. NiMh's and Sp 400's.

Maybe I should take my flat delta wing and cut it down the center then add dihedral?

Why do I conceal my face? It's just a friendly gesture - in case someone just ate dinner - so they won't get indigestion.

Thanks - sorry to wander off topic.
