Hey guys i have never built or flown any EDF airplanes and I Just got one EDF50 in the mail today and was wanting to build a simple little plane to put it on or in, Anyone have any plans they can share, Also will my GWS 2 amp esc work with the edf or will it fry the esc? How many cells and what kind work best with this little guy? Any help would be greatly appreciated.

I´m no expert.... .....but I´ve been using the GWS 2A esc without any problems! 8x120mah gives a light airplane approx 2min flighttime!

I heard somewhere that maximum was 7cells... maybe 7xGWS250mah 2/3AA nicd would work.

You should probably try to build a airplane that looks like one... alphajet or somethin like that.

My Draken and Gripen is VERY hard to fly and just bearly flies using EDF50, but they do fly

I seen your post with he draken and i must say it is a nice plane but just from the looks i would say they are fast and more than i could handle LOL =) i was also playing with the idea of placing the edf inside a lightweight tube of the same diameter and building a non scale sabre or mig, I was going to either use sturdy board or a walmart glider for the wings, I would of course sand the thing down to a decent airfoil =) Oh I was wondering when you say 2 minute flight times do you mean 2 minutes with good power or 2 minutes then it has no power to stay airborne?

2minutes is 2min in the air, including final glide back to terra firma! (only 3sek or so )

I visiting some friends next week... we´ve prepared a total of 8 EDF 50, and MANY servor and escs, and lots of white depron! maybe a B52!

Have you ever seen that Schuebeler site? It is great. And it is were i found that flying barrel.

It is a Midifan jet on 20 cells. So my gues is it has very high speeds and some real power.

As for now, i can not get my hands on those EDF-50 units. So i'll have to wait till i can build microjets. But even then i am not sure i would build a Tunnan, maby i'll just go with a clean Mig-17!

It would be nice to see a Micro Tunnan.
You could even make it tru to scale, becous you need a cheater hole enyway.

Cool i have never seen that jet before and i even have A jet book thats supposed to show every aircraft from the jet age LOL I did notice the powerplant designation # on the tail anyone recognize the letters? that plane would probably fly well on a EDF50... the EDF50 is 10mm smaller then the other fan....

I got 80g thrust from the Unionfan (5bladed 60mm) using kyosho 300 and 10x110mah. it flew my Sonicblast very well...

the EDF50 delivers 86g on 8x120mah

EDF50:
8volts 3,5A
10volts 4,5A (did only try this for 2sek or so)

Do you have a link to the kyosho 300? I've been flying my sonic blast on a kyosho dmc20 and 8 270 nicads and am always on the lookout for more motor options I've also flown this plane successfully on 7 250 nicads, but it is better with 8 270's. Longest flight so far with a bit of throttle management was just shy of 5 minutes. Most flights are in the 3.5 - 4 minute range with some divey acrobatics (rolls and loops with a bit of a lead in dive, I think the undercambered wing is robbing a fair bit of speed)

same motor as my 300 motor, don´t know why it says 300 on it, it only preforms like a 280, atleast it does in my fan.

I got a 25Mb video of my SB, I´ll try to cut it down to get a couple of 2mb pieces to post here!
