You know it's too hot to fly when...

The mosquitoes are flying the plane, and have drained the pilot of blood.

Your glasses are constantly fogged.

Your foamie has just melted into a steaming goo.

Breakfast was 2 fried eggs cooked on the bonnet of the car.

Melted the battery pack.

Fried the plane's motor without it being used.

Solder is constantly in liquid form.

The ocean just evaporated.

The pilot starts to thermal.

ARHHHHH!!! I can't stand this heat!!!!!! And I did melt the heatshrink off the battery pack!

Too Hot?

I was thinking it was a little early in the year to be too hot, then I checked your weather. I'm guessing it was about 80 or so degrees there?
We had a beautiful day here. Overcast skies, barely a breeze. Went out and flew my old beat-up Firebird for awhile in a T-shirt and jeans. Temp was up to a balmy 27 degrees F. By the way, I know it is too hot when your kneeling by your plane on a paved runway and your knees stick to the pavement. Did that last year, and when I wore shorts, it looked like I shaved my knees !!

Jeans and T-shirt at 27F? My teeth would rattle.

It's just that night temps here have been in the 90's and day temps near 100F in the shade. This has been going on for 4 months. I haven't been able to take a cold shower for months. I think it's making me a bit loopy.

Oh well. There's a low in the coral sea now. That usually means it's cyclone time!

90's &100's...GOOD GAWD!!!

WOW, that is warm! Don't think I could handle that. Yeah, I know it sounds wierd about T-shirt & jeans but the sun was pretty warm, it was a little chilly though. It's funny how in this country when it's really cold for a while (granted this winter is very mild) and then it warms up it almost feels 'hot'. Maybe a few to many CA fumes this morning. It has caught up with me though, got a good case of the sniffles now. Maybe it's just the people around here, on a nearby lake (that is well frozen over), a bunch of people got together and cut a big hole in the ice and jumped in with just bathing suits. I think they call themselves the 'Polar Bear Club'. Not me!!!!
Just do me a favor and keep those high temps down there ! Don't need it, no way!

Feeling kind of silly now, but I just realized that it is actually summer there, isn't it? Guess that explains it.

Are you hinting about a reason for your 'loopyness' Mark?

Mark,
I think you're just giddy about you and your flock flying south for the rest of the winter and upcoming summer.
Pretty hard to beat San Diego, though. I think I'd be tickled pink, too.
Just think how much you'll miss all the northwest rain, though.

Well, the only fly in this ointment is that this bird is flying solo as I did in '98. At least this time we have new cell phones with free long distance but that won't replace a hug, ya know. (Don't nobody offer either. I'll letcha know if I need one... )
I have The Admiral's blessing on this trip so that I can keep a foot in a particular door for a possible permanent move. We're optimistic that eventually we'll end up there for good.
In the meantime, the Southland can rest easy that this is temporary for now but we sure do love it in SD and I'm certainly looking forward to meeting a lot of new friends.

Now, back to hammering on this Big T.

two words: Lipo balloons.

Resurrected, nice to imagine too hot, when it's November in Canada. No mosquitoes though and no mosquitoes=no west Nile.

Minus 2C here (about 30F), but the sun is shining, and my batteries are charging.

Feels a little chilly, but in another month or so, -2 will be t-shirt and shorts weather,

Land of the Chinook (snow eater), gotta get those slopers ready.
