Good Hobby Shops in Atlanta area??

I live up in the Woodstock area and am looking for a good R/C Parkflyer hobby shop - I am aware of the the Hobby Town in Kennesaw - big store but not much of a parkflyer or R/C plane store for that matter - where are some good, reasonably priced stores in say a 50-60 mile radius of downtown Atlanta that carry a good assortment of R/C plane and parkflyer type goodies??

Welcome to our AAEF "club" thread Doberman! There's a couple of places we frequent and can recommend.

Number One! Atlanta Hobby is the best by far for everything electric. Cliff knows what we lust after and keeps his shelves pretty well stocked. Atlanta Hobby is now located in a store in Cumming GA, just off Hwy 141 at Hwy 9. Call him at (678)513-4450.

Number Two! HobbyTown on Satellite Blvd behind Gwinnett Place Mall is very good for all GWS planes and radios. He's got a good supply of Flubbers and Mountain Models kits, too. Definately a worthwhile trip. P.S. They're the only ones I know of that stock sheets of 3mm Depron. They carry Monokote, a limited selection of Econokote, and a pretty good selection of Solite. Dave, the manager, has been asking us about what kinds models and accessories he should be stocking there. He's very customer-oriented. A rare quality in this day and age. Call him at (770)418-0850.

Number Three! Winder Hobby on GA 81 just south of GA 8 is pretty good, but not better than Atlanta Hobby for e-stuff. They're just closer to where some of us live and fly. They have a good selection of carbon fibre tubes, rods and strips. Most aviation stuff is geared toward glow flyers. They have the best selection of covering film, but no Solite.

There are one or two good hobby shops south of Atlanta, but I've never visited them. I'll let a south-side flyer like Jeff Meyers add his recommendations.

Internet shopping is nice but a good local hobby shop is better.

Hope you can join us for some air time at Mercer or Atlanta Drone Society (AMA club near Jefferson). --JS

Take another look at winder hobby Joel if you have not been there in a while. they do have solite. They also have Himax, Park 400 and 370's Motor max outrunners, fiago, Axi, and maybe others that I have not seen. Every GWS plane (unless out of stock), even replacement gearboxes, shafts, gears, and several sizes of GWS servos. Plenty of brushless speed controlers and even good selection of APC electric and slowfly props. They have a few lipos as well, but not a wide variety of sizes.
