For the 350C-D that Ash is flying the 10 X 4.7 is the correct prop! This is not the 300C-D!!

Overproping will burn out motors!

Hey guys. I have a question about the speed control for the SS. I'm planning to get the kit with the 400 size motor (Tower Hobbies should have them shortly!), but I'm not sure what ESC to get. Will the ICS300 be ok for a 400 motor (I'm geussing it's called the ICS300 because it can handle 300 size motors)? Will I need to get the ICS400 or 480?

Some use the ICS 300 without problems with a 400, but a few have fried them. Depends on gear and prop. I like to prop a 400 so amp draw is near 10, and use a heatsink on the motor. I have used the ISC 400 up to 11.5a without the heatsink on and it doesn't get hot.

The wire size on the ICS 400 is better suited for the amp load too. On the 300, you need to change the JST connectors as well. They can't even handle the 8 amps the controller is rated for.

Hi Guys,After shattering my slow V fuslage I'm back to my SS and would like to have a upgraded motor on hand. I think it was Vanning who recomended a 370 with a "c" drive but now i find out that GWS has released eight new motors/gear boxes and I don't know which would be equivilent the new ratio's are 13.66:1 ,10.66:1 ,9.00:1 ,
7.70:1 ,6.60:1 ,4.43:1 and 3.75:1 . Confused

C gear is 5.33:1. It seems to me that the D gear (6.60:1) would be better as you can use a larger prop. But I haven't tried a 350, so I may be wrong.

another newbie slow stick issue. I have a slow stick with 300 engine 1180 prop (D gearing, I believe). I have to apply significant downward elevator to prevent it from severely pitching up at full throttle. With this behavior, I would believe that I should move my CG forward. Right now, it's close to the 105 mm mark, should I attempt to move it closer to the 95 mm mark?

Do the Thrust Mod to give the 3 degrees down and right thrust looking from the rear of the plane. See my website for a sketch. Without the mod there is no way to fix the problem other than applying down elevator.

Got to fly my new number 4, SS tonite and she is a beauty!!!

First time I've used a brushless (Himaxx 2015-5400) and she screams!!

I can't believe the difference between it and a GWS 350 motor, its totally unreal

. I've still got some things I want to do to it but it flies fine as it. One thing I need to figure out is how to add a lil more rudder to it, she turns on a dime but I want it to turn sharper!! hehe

Has anyone actually successfully flown the FKSTICK8 model in FMS?

It looks like a Slow Stick but flies like it's completely out of trim.

The elevator trim can be adjusted (to some extent) but the rudder trim won't hold for a second. Considering how much dihedral the real thing has, I would expect the rudder trim to be very stable.

I have not flown the real Slow Stick yet but am waiting for a transmitter shipment to maiden my first.

If it flies like the FMS model I might as well consign it to the trash can now and save myself the trouble of crashing it.

The Easy Star model handles fine so I don't think it is FMS.

I assume the design of the FMS model is sound so I don't know what I am doing wrong.

Norm,
Just keep practicing on the FMS model. Once you have mastered it, you will have no problems flying your SS. I found that the real SS was much easier to fly then the FMS model. Also try setting the wind speed in FMS to around 5 once you get used to it with the wind off. It will help you get used to flying in the wind in the real world.

Ruger,

I'd like to take your advise but it is impossilble to trim the rudder.
It is like trying to balance something on the cutting edge of a very sharp knife.

It may be the joystick I am using.
I can trim other models with it but not this one.
