Arizona Electric Festival Ad in Quiet Flyer Magazine

Just got my new QF mag in the mail and there is an advertisement for the Arizona Electric Festival in January 2005. I remember Frank Wallace asking for feedback about holding a winter event when there is one held in San Diego in February.

Yes I have done a lot of research into when would be the best time for another large scale E-vent for the west coast. I found that being 3 weeks before MWE would give people and vendors plenty of time to attend both E-vents. We also are hoping to attract a lot of vendors by offering free space (raffle donations encouraged). We have a very nice facility with RV space and on site power generators for charging batteries. Hacker Brushless USA, based in Tempe, is one of our major sponsors and has offered to be a destination point for people needing to ship there planes in. We will also be able to deliver these planes to the flying field so you out of state visitors are strongly encouraged to come on down and enjoy our great winter weather. We want to make this a great event so any additional suggestions would be greatly appreciated.

Here is an aerial shot of the field with the basic layout.

We are working to get the entry form up on the web site. This is the site where the Arizona Jet Rally is held every year. If you have any questions please contact me.
Thanks,

It's not to bad a drive from Farmington New Mexico and we are going to make it worth the trip. Among other things there will be some great pro pilot demo's, free lunch on Saturday for registered pilots, night flying Saturday night, and a lot of great bargains to be had at the many vendor booths.

Intersting, never been there. Are there any slope soaring spot nearby?

I guess winter is the high season for motel rates in your area. I'm looking up some of the Holiday Inn Express locations shown near to the field in Apache Jct listed in the RC club website and for some reason they are not on the Holiday Inn Express website. Closest one on their reservation website is in Mesa and it's about $100/night. The one in Scottsdale is $130/night shown online.

Maybe, some of you locals can scout the nearby accomodations and make recommendations? Wife is interested in making the trip possibly.

Yeah.... Scottsdale/Paradise Valley area are pretty muckety-muck. There are some cheaper hotels near Bell rd. and I-17 if you don't mind the longer drive to the field.

OOOoooooppps... Never mind, I was thinking of the field off Cave Creek.
